Direct Input/Internal Processor

An extraordinary writing tool (or type of writing tool).
-Dimi & Janet
The Direct Input/Internal Processors (or DIIPs), are high-tech tablet-like devices that enable agents to read and write information on microchips, such as those that are commonly linked with HTPMDs.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The casing resembles a sleek, modern tablet, while the interface appears as that of an early computer. Inside are several modules that correspond with each other, encoding, decoding, and recoding messages until they are completely unreadable without the help of another DIIP.   This piece of technology is more complex than it appears. The screen is touch sensitive and can be written or drawn on with the accompanying stylus. There is also a small keyboard that folds out. It is fully fitted with all QWERTY alphanumeric characters and traditional symbols, along with other functional buttons that are involved in the creation, deletion, transcription, and review of secretive messages.   There are also ports on the device that allows it to read and upload information from multiple chips at a time, and a speaker for audio messages.

Manufacturing process

The process for developing DIIPs is a very secretive practice. W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. scientists have conducted many tests and have come to the conclusion that the device is impossible to duplicate, even if the person attempting to clone the Direct Input/Internal Processor had full access and ability to completely dissect and dismantle one. While it is possible to recreate something that could read or maybe even write on the microchips, the system for encoding and decoding has not been cracked, as far as W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. is concerned.
Commander McCox Gives Newbies the Rundown:   Chips and DIIP, my friend. And I'm not talking about a plate of nachos. D.I.I.P. stands for Direct Input/Internal Processor These babies help us to directly input information on those little microchips that go into the HTPMDs, and to read what was written there by other DIIP devices. Pretty cool, huh? Well, I know that's nothing to eat. But, don't worry. If you're hungry, the lunchroom is thataway.
