The Alchemist Pbau Metelalefi creates a Philosopher Stone in front of 5 other practitioners of the art. After a night of scientific revelry Matelalefi shatters the stone and gives a shard to each of the 5 alchemists and to 3 other researchers who joined them. The group decide to create the Hermetic Societies as a peer-review organization that is detached from politics or allegiances and serving only to further the understanding of the natural and supernatural world by mortals.
