Firbolg (ˈfɪərboʊlg)

Firbolgs, also known as feygiants, are a tall race of forest-dwelling humanoids, distantly related to both giants and the Fae Lands.

Appearance

The first thing that is noticed about the Firbolg is their height. Most Firbolg stand at an average height between 7 and 8 feet tall, making them one of the talled humanoid races in the realm. They are also known to weigh between 240 and 300 pounds on average. While Firbolgs have strong links to their giant kin, they are in fact covered with thick furs that can range in colour from earthy-tones - tan, brown, and ruddy reds - to cool grey and blue, however some Firbolg who stem closer to their fae origins can have hair that has bright colored fur like pink, red, and cyan. A FIrbolg's nose is often similar to that of a bovine. Additionally, their ears can take one of two forms, either long and floppy or pointed upwards, finally the tip of their nose is often either a bright pink or a deep black colouration.   While some document Firbolg as rarely wearing clothes, it is more common to find Firbolg wearing simple tunics with the color related to their source of faith. For example, those who follow Mandra wear a green tunic which is sinched in using a thick lime green cumberbund, and then cover their decency using brown trousers often made of a thicker fabric or even a leather hide.

Society

Like many of those who have some of their origins in the fae plane, Firbolg have a sense of freedom that is unmatched by a large amount of the populous. They are known to walk barefooted among the mud and bogs of their home moves, feeling the natural world beneath their feet and adoring every essence of it.   While some consider the Firbolg to be mostly nature loving and there driven by the ideals of Mandra and related spirits, there is still a heavy element of faith within the communities of Firbolg around the world. While Mandra and Aresh are seen with a high regard, often considered by the Firbolg to be their patron deities, there are several sects of Firbolg that have connections with other deities, for example the Locke family who reside in a forest near Port Zan have a propensity towards the teachings of Akorvis, based on their connection with the sailing industry as their family are builders of many ships.

Firbolg in Ossalimar

In Ossalimar, most FIrbolg are kept seperated from the Ossalimarian Empire as they choose not to be involved in such grand conflicts between people unless they have to. While this is common, there are exceptions to the rule. Some Firbolg have developed their skills and work for the Veritas Convention commonly as enchanters or tutors of the druidic arts.   Outside of the Empire, some Firbolg have moved into the Daunka Province and work among their government as religious and natural advisors. This includes the Ember Family, a clan of Firbolg who are worshipers of The Raven's Blood, one of a sect of four ancient Firbolg families that each upkeep one of her ancient temples. One member of the family is known to constantly work with the Daunka Province to keep the relglious needs of their deity followed by the people of the lands.

Firbolg in Heimter

Most Firbolg in Heimter are in based in the Myrwood. While there is one society that are dedicated to Mandra, they all seem to choose to remain near Kokaema, The Lifeblood Tree, which stands as a monument to Mandra, and also seems to be a beacon for many Mandra followers, but particularly Firbolg.   Another of the four ancient families reside further into the Myrwood, the Tombs Family. This family stay seperated from the rest of Firbolg society within the Myrwood, believing that their only purpose is to protect the ancient temple of The Raven's Blood. However, over the years different followers of The Raven's Blood have made their way to the temple and been adopted by the Tombs family, leading to a mainly Firbolg family filled with members of many different ancestries. This shows the kindness and heart at the core of the Firbolg in Heimter.

Powers and Abilities

Firbolgs possess great wisdom, living in communion with the natural world. This allows them to communicate with beasts and plants, though they can be understood, they cannot interpret what is said by the beast of plant. Firbolg also have a plethora of magical abilites to both detect other magical effects and disguise themselves, even changing their size. Another ability is to disguise their form through an aura of invisibility for a short time. Lastly, thanks to their sheer size and the additional magical capabilities that flow through the Firbolg, the Firbolg is able to lift objects and creatures at least twice the amount they normally are able to.

Cover their decency. XD   I like your take on firbolgs, and I particularly love their emphasis on both faith and nature.
