Dagger Bar Keep

A Dagger Bar Keep is a unique leader for the Dagger mercenaries through the lands. Many Dagger Bar Keeps have been daggers themselves and most are also the sons or daughters of the prior Dagger Bar Keep. Daggers do not have a known guild or control structure, yet they are clearly ranked and work together across the entire world. One thing is clear, Daggers in a particular geographic area will always hire out of one bar. Areas without a Dagger bar have been known to attract a retiring Dagger to open a new Dagger Bar but this is very rare. The most famous Dagger Tavern is the Blue Dolphin Inn in Llino. This is the acknowledged original Dagger Tavern it is owned and operated by one family since its beginning hundreds of years ago. Each Dagger Bar has very specific requirements. It must have a large set of stables, a practice riding area, sparing, hot baths on-premise, and modern plumbing. Beyond that, each Dagger Bar is uniquely named by a color and an animal combination. The Dagger Bar Keep is the owner and operator of the entire establishment. Although, the Daggers always comply with local laws and yield to regional authorities. However, within the Dagger Bar itself, the Dagger Bar Keep seems to have absolute authority over the Daggers, their rankings, pay scales, and available services. Daggers have a series of ranks from something like an apprentice to senior team leaders. How they progress, and if there are any tests that are not generally known. However, many of the other mercenary bands Blades, Knives, and Guards have all individuals who claim to have almost become Daggers. If their story can be confirmed they are generally highly regarded within the other bands in spite of not meeting whatever requirements needed to be Daggers operating out of a Dagger Bar. Dagger Bar Keeps do not simply inherit their family's property. There are a few instances, The Orange Dove in Gracia being the most recent and notable example of a senior Dagger being made the Dagger Bar Keep while the owner's child or children continue to own the establishment. Mentori Draipier is the owner of The Orange Dove, but she failed to become a Dagger and now oversees the tavern's finances, her two sons chose other professions other than Daggering. It is noted that Londith Draipier, Mantori's daughter and her eldest child is a Dagger and it is expected she may rise to become the next generation's Dagger Bar Keep for The Orange Dove. However, for almost two decades Pontal of Rendall Valley has been the Dagger Bar Keep.

Qualifications

Must have been at least a senior Dagger. Education in history, mathematics, and logistics is a must.

Appointment

Appointed by the prior Dagger Bar Keep. In the event of sudden death or accident, a new Dagger Bar Keep can be elected by the existing Dagger Team Leads and Senior Daggers.
