Lana

(Lah'-nah) is a Tragar Dwarf born in the Stronghold, the nearest and largest settlement to Sivaraus.

Born one of the rarer female psionic talents, Lana was a highly desired Tugren from a young age and was kept close and always working in whatever clan could keep her.

Her appearance is typical for her race: grey-black skin and milk-white, eyes, slightly pointed ears, and only slightly shorter and less powerful than her male Vungren. Key differences in telling her gender and psionic talent are her large-size breast and wider hips, and the complete lack of head or facial hair, respectively.

Background

The Tragar Dwarves grudgingly acknowledge their origin as former Ornilleth slaves who suffered and survived much experimentation, retelling and teaching the story to their children. This history helps explain the unlocked mind talent present among them but not born to every child. It also justifies their staunch refusal to acknowledge a single leader and holds solid the differing status between male and female, which was the opposite of the Davrin Elves.

The grown males were bald but still grew beards on their face and other places, while the females were beardless, and those with mind-talents were fully hairless.

~The Ornilleth have no hair at all,~ grumbled her grandfather with prejudice. ~You are the ones who need the most discipline not to succumb to the Great Work. We will protect you from becoming any more like them.~

She could tell it was true, because he believed it.

Young Lana mind-bonded at a fairly early age, was attentive to her protector, and worked hard. All seemed to be going how it should until the cycle she was abducted from her home clan by an older void-mind named Kain.

Current

Lana's escape attempts to return to her first clan and Vungren ended quickly when her embarrassed grandfather publicly disowned her.

~For as long as you can keep her!~ he snarled.

What did that mean? Would her family come to rescue her? Would they forget about her unless a similar opportunity arrived to steal her as it had for Kain? Or would it simply be a third clan to claim her later…?

As before, Lana stayed with her protector and worked hard mining for gems and precious metals, since she could find them faster than mind-locked Tragar. She did not enjoy Kain when he wanted couplings. It felt strange, his demands while linked mind and body. Like he would swallow her up if she gave it all at once.

He frightened her. He was ever alert for someone to steal her as he had. His mind ate that fear, invented actions from others, especially her, as if a whole new world worked right beside theirs. On his worst rest-cycles, he was difficult to placate, reluctant to come out of that even harsher world. She had given up trying to understand why.
