Ether Core

The Ether Core is a magical device that in its core has a Ether Crystal that when charged using anima is able to levitate the ship. The more anima is put into the core the higher a ship can levitate. Depending on the size of the ship, its cargo, equipment and height the ship will use more or less anima per hour to remain levitated (called "afloat" or "in the float").

A ship using an Ether core can levitate up to 200 meters above ground but never, 1200 meters from sea level. The 1200m mark is often known as the "high shorline" or high shore.

In order to supply the Ether core with Anima, ships make use of crystal rods that are able to store anima called "Anima Rods" (a variation of the Vault Block.

  Ether Core Sizes and capabilities (3rd Generation) 1st gen cores can cover an area up to 25m from the center of the core and can the ration of the engine vs the size of the crystal they can sustain is 50:1 2nd gen cores can cover an area up to 30m from the center of the core and can the ration of the engine vs the size of the crystal they can sustain is 25:1 3rd gen cores can cover an area up to 50m from the center of the core and can the ration of the engine vs the size of the crystal they can sustain is 10:1
  • Class C weighs 1kg with a 0.01kg Ether Crystal (Personal Carry Boosters)
  • Class B weighs 10kg with a 0.1kg Ether Crystal (Commercial Lifts)
  • Class A weighs 100kg with a 1kg Ether Crystal (Industrial Lifts)
  • Class 1 weighs 1,000kg with a 10kg Ether Crystal
  • Class 2 weighs 2,500kg with a 30kg Ether Crystal
  • Class 3 weighs 5,000kg with a 55kg Ether Crystal
  • Class 4 weighs 10,000kg with a 150kg Ether Crystal
  • Class 5 weighs 20,000kg with a 400kg Ether Crystal
  • 1kg of Ether crystal can levitate 5000 kg
  • 1kg of Ether crystal can sustain a charge of up to 120 anima before fracturing
  • Ether crystals cannot levitate about a height of 1200m from sea level
  • For 1kg of Ether Crystal requires 1 anima to levitate 5000kg, 10m above sea level.
  • A = Ether Crystal Mass in Kilograms
  • B = Anima Points per hour (capped at 120 anima / A)
  • C = Levitation Mass
  • D = Height
  • Anima Points per Kilogram of Ether Crystal = Total Weight of the Ship/5000 * Height in Meters/10 / Total Kilograms of Ether Crystals

    B = (C/5000 * D/10) / A

    If we have a ship that weights 15,000kg with 1kg of Ether Crystal and an Anima bank of 1000 Anima that ship can:

    Fly at a max height of 1200m for 1000/B hours
  • B = (15000/5000 * 1200/10) / 1 =>
  • B = 3 * 120 =>
  • B = 360 (which is 3 times higher than the cap which means the ship will not be able to fly at 1200m at all)
  • If the ship had 3kg of Ether Crystal it would have to spent 360 anima per hour distributed over 3kg of the Crystal (120 Anima each) which will mean that will be able to fly at that height for 1000/360 => 2.77 hours

    If we keep to the original specification the ship with its 1kg crystal fully charged will only be able to reach heights of

  • 120 = (15000/5000 * X/10) =>
  • X = 400m
  • Therfore the ship will be able to reach a max height of 400m and maintain it for about 8.3 hours
