Hammer and Iron
This smithy is built on top of the ruins of its predecessor which in turn was built on the ruins of the home of a wizard with a penchant for fire magic. There is an eternal flame located where the forge has been built. Extra fuel is added to make the coal bed larger, but the core of the heat is generated from this flame.
Purpose / Function
This is an excellent place to replace any metal gear, from swords to pitons. Otis Mitrik is able to make quick repairs if needed as well as provide from his varied but limited selection of wares.
On very rare occasions, some simple magic item might make it here through trade. However, Otis himself isn't able to detect magic, nor identify its nature. Any time he suspects an item to be magical, he charges a lot extra until its effects can be correctly determined. That said, a previous experience with a cursed object has made him wary of testing items too much.
Architecture
There are four major rooms in the building. One is the forge itself, another has completed items as well as storage for materials, and the last two make up the home for Otis and his wife. The first two rooms are more or less the same store structure that made up the previous building before it burned down. The roof and sections of the walls have been replaced and the wall closest to this section to the domestic half has also been rebuilt in stone.
The housing half is equipped with a loft that used to be where the couple's children slept but has now been converted to storage.
