Church of Enneas Organization in Lost Waves | World Anvil

Church of Enneas

As the god of love, sexuality and desire, Enneas obviously encourages their followers to live accordingly and show others the care and happiness this can bring. As a result, worshippers have gained a reputation of being overly generous with intimacy. This isn't entirely unfounded, and some temples provide extra services to those who donate larger amounts. And some provide healing for both body and soul through sensual touch.   Most temples are built to have as bright interiors as possible while keeping as much privacy as possible. How each worshipper expresses their enjoyment is between them and those they invite. There are often parks or pools - even in temples in the Sa'ar Desert - where one can relax and speak openly with others. However, making others uncomfortable is always a quick way to be escorted off the premises.

Structure

There is no global organisation for the church, but each temple stays in touch with those around it, which means that ideas spread or are resisted across distance. Each temple has a High Priest, regularly elected by the whole of the temple. Priests who feel that they can take the responsibility may take adepts who want to join the church. Regular attendees can sometimes be treated as a form of adepts taken on by the priesthood as a whole.   Dressing in a way that is first of all pleasing to themselves, and secondly pleasing to others, is more important to Enneas' priests than any formal clothing.

Public Agenda

How the church is treated varies a lot depending on the culture. The Sh'areen Caliphate is sexually very open-minded and as such the temples are considered a valuable asset. They provide sensuality and aid those who try to find themselves and become comfortable in their bodies.   In more restrictive societies, temples to Enneas have to exist in secret. Worshippers try to arrive without anyone seeing them and they don't talk about their involvement. Still, few areas have tried to completely get rid of the presence of Enneas. If nothing else but because of those in power often seeking out the temples' services.
