Spuzzum Grid Settlement in Lieben Cycle | World Anvil

Spuzzum Grid

2156: LIEBEN ORACLE V1

A transcription from the recollections of the Mater Machine Lieben.     I never saw the Spuzzum Grid, it was torched and reclaimed by the forest before I made my way back to the North American continent in the 2090's. Little more than a series of concentric circles around a central 'hearth', the Spuzzum Grid was a bastion for the Idless from the late 2020's through 2087.   Idless in their caravans, tiny homes and similar vehicles would descend as was their want or need, upon the Spuzzum Grid, a tucked away bit of territory in a public forest outside the unincorporated town of Spuzzum, in British Columbia.   It maintained a migratory population no more than 75 - 100 people until The Conglomerate of Gaia sent drones in to sweat Ego and his ilk out into the open.   Once the Grid was 'made' by Babylon, the Idless no longer used it. The Spuzzum Grid was stricken from the Idless maps. A lost and abandoned place.

Government

As an Idless Grid, the Spuzzum Grid was run via anarchistic autonomy in accordance with the Idless Manifesto.

Defences

Guns, bats, whatever defences the Grid had were brought by the Idless.    None were enough for the devastation caused, which ended the Grid.

Infrastructure

  • Solar Panels & Battery Zone
  • Central Hearth Fire with thermo-conversion charging stations
  • Forest to forage & hunt around
  • A fresh water spring

Assets

Only what the Idless brought with them.

Architecture

The grid was created with concentric circles of recycled void webbing pressed into the clearing large enough for an original nine tiny homes and Idless vehicles to park facing the central hearth. Made of recycled materials, the void webbing made the ground sturdy enough, while allowing the grass and flowers to grow through the material's voids.   The hearth was harvested from local stones, with the thermo-electric power banks built into each octagonal corner. Saplings were planted at each of the hearth's eight points to hold any wires, and the strings of solar powered lights, which kept the community lit in night and early dawn.   Due to the transient nature of the Idless, these were the only permanent structures. When the Conglom invaded, the Grid returned naturally to the forest, little to indicate its' passage but the biodegradable recycled material of the grid's concentric circles.   A fitting ideology in creating architecture meant to have a lifespan no longer than a human's, at least for the Idless at the time.

Geography

Nestled off the highway, past a thin green sign for 'unincorporated Spuzzum', deep into the forest was the Grid. Far enough away from the settlers (as few who remained by the 2030's), Spuzzum Grid was surrounded by trees, a fresh water spring and the mountainside.   A truly brilliant place, if Baiko's memories can be observed. Even memories can be embellished in the human machine.
