Ego felt for a secret pocket in the back of his shirt, a shielded IDent chip his mother squirrelled away. A claim to Armenian-French ancestry, and the laws which governed. He despised it in his teenage years, when his mother pulled the leather envelope out of a secret shelf in the inner door of their family truck. It was the symbol of dissolution, of the relationship between father and mother turned into crumbled chaff. Grains on the wind. And when his mother returned to Provence, her legal passport a badge beyond the securities, which bound Idless to the ground?
The IDent chip sewn into precious shielded fabric a caustic reminder of his mother’s desertion. Of the fickle nature of Nationalities, which barred the freedom of people to move through their world.
The absent mother of Ego, Anoush spent her youth in the Idless, when she fell in love with a strange man who whisked her clear of her responsibilities. Wild and untamed, she surged through the Grids, the man lost in the orgiastic ebb and flow of sensual freedom, until she and another Idless became pregnant.
When the pressures of Idless life during The Flag War hit too hard, and the creches kept her child to long for her motherly arms, Anoush disavowed her Idless name and on the way out, gave one piece of contraband to her teenaged son. An IDent chip and passport she'd smuggled for Ego all this time.

Identifying Features
Ego barely remembered his mother's face, until he looked in the mirror. The same eyes, the same skin which tanned to a deep olive. She was tired when he knew her, bearing a weight he didn't understand until she was gone, and he had children of his own.
Physical Quirks
When upset, bored or frightened, Anoush sang. Love songs, folk songs, melodies she remembered. She baked bread, painted and she sang. At least, that's all Ego could remember prior to their reunion in Emptiness at the Centre.
Personal History
Born in France in the 2040's, Anoush lived a quiet enough life as a burgeoning artist, who worked retail then in a bakery to make ends meet. She dreamed of seeing the world, of living wild and anywhere from the outskirts of Provence, where her family grew lavender and grapes for wine.
When a friend of hers disappeared from social media with nothing but the Idless Manifesto as reason, the anarchists swelled in her mind. They promised absolute freedom, a lie without ownership... She ran off with a man whose name she eventually forgot, so lost in the rapture of Idless highs. When she realized her ten year old son barely knew her name, Anoush swept him up and spent the next six years as a mother, until the pressures of the creche made her heart break for a normal life.

When Mog took an IDent chip to provide health care to her ill infant son Viggo, the Kimbedjian name and Ego's DNA popped up on the The Conglomerate of Gaia's system. Flagged, it alerted Anoush's husband, who upon investigation, discovered Mog was in fact, Katherine, the girl Anoush remembered fetching Ego's eye when he was a teen. Aware of her grandchild and daughters-in-law, Anoush attempted to secretly reach out.
In a moment of panic, Ego broke Idless doctrine and used the IDent chip Anoush smuggled to him. Anoush was chimed. She rose from her comfortable life and husband, it was time to find her son, and Mog would help her do it.

Social Contacts
While burned from the Idless way of life, Anoush reconnected with her Franco-Armenian roots. She returned to France, then remarried outside Marseille. Husband a The Conglomerate of Gaia sub-manager of the European Financial Division, Anoush was vaulted into the creative and financial elite.
Two more children later, and she dedicated her life to wine parties, galas and art gallery openings from Switzerland to London, Bergen to Beijing.
The Chairperson of the Conglom, a patron of the arts, purchased several of Anoush's paintings, many hanging in the suite where Mog and Fester are kept with Anoush's grandchildren. Anoush is ready to negotiate with one... finer... piece soon.

"Mother?" Ego stifled a grunt, stuffed his wanton fingers in his back pocket.
"Ah, mon dieu merci. Thank the Magdalene you did not call me Lada. Purposeful, j'éspère?" Crows feet sketched across the corners of her eyes as if placed by an artist's brush, the crease to her forehead deeper than Ego remembered when she fled into the car. "You used your IDent."
"I... mother, I, we, need help. Can you hide us?"
