Sandhill Town Settlement in Jerna's Diary | World Anvil

Sandhill Town

If there is one thing I want to do before I die, it is find Sandhill Town. According to legends, this town is located on a small desert island in the Southern Archipelago, encased in an eternal storm, hiding itself from outsiders. I am confident it is real, but nobody has ever seen it.
Included Locations
Before the times of maps, there was a lovely little town named Sandhill Town, on a small island far from anywhere else. This town was popular with visitors, as rare resources brought trade to the island. But one day, a man from a distant land brought a curse with him. This curse caused a large storm to circle the island, cutting off any incoming boats or ships. Nobody could access Sandhill Town, and nobody would since the storm never seemed to end.   This was over a million years ago, and today barely anybody knows of the town's existence. Nobody knows where this island is, and nobody has been able to find it. According to legend, this eternal storm prevents anybody from finding the town, so there is no hope.

Sandhill Gem

The only living proof that Sandhill Town is real, and the one thing that motivates me to find the island, is the Sandhill Gem. This gem is inscribed with the letters SHG. One can only assume this stands for Sandhill Gem, which leads me to believe that this town is real.

This gem is apparently a staple of Sandhill Town, and is commonly used as a trade resources, similar to runes. But because this is the only one we have, it's a rarity and it is currently displayed in some fancy museum in Minas.

Description

Sandhill Town is described as a paradise in every text it has shown up in. Houses are stacked on top of each other, balconies with plants growing out, flat roofs with pristine pools on top, with market stalls along the roads for trading artifacts. I have always wondered what it would look like in reality, as I've only seen images.
