Introduction in Hummel Quest | World Anvil

Introduction

Hello! HUMMEL QUEST is a tabletop RPG system that was designed from the basis of the Engine Heart system. I’ve made several changes and adjustments to adapt it to fit my world/setting of sentient war machines. Because a lot of these changes are quite major, I decided to create a sort of reference document for myself and players that reflects the entirety of the rules, including my changes.   To find out more about the world that this system is set in, visit my World Anvil page about the Hummelverse.
In a nutshell, the Hummelverse is a world like ours, but set in the near future after humanity destroyed itself in a nuclear war. Their autonomous AI war machines fought on, until they destroyed their own civilization in a second nuclear war. 80 years later, small groups roam the no-man’s-land in a constant struggle for bare survival, while clans fight over territory and resources.
At the time, the rules only allow tanks as player characters. Planes for example cannot be played. This might change in the future if I sit down and figure out a ruleset for them. Like other tabletop RPGs, HUMMEL QUEST is meant to be played in a group. A group must have at least one host and one player. The host is called Matchmaker (short: MM), and is essentially the DM. The MM creates and leads the adventure, calls the dice rolls, and controls NPCs (non-player-characters), among other tasks.   If you have any questions or would like to try playing this game but don’t know where to start, feel free to contact me on Discord. My tag is arty#3461 and I’ll assist you with finding a group or clarifying unclear rules.

What this Page is About

Since the Handbook exists, this page might seem superfluous. The reason why I made it anyway is that I'll be able to add in changes and fixes and new content without the need to distribute the document every time. It will also be a reference for those who find searching for stuff in a PDF tedious or don't have access to the file at the moment for whatever reason. I'm also hoping to get some feedback.   I'll try to keep the SRD as up to date as possible. Check the tags of each article for the version number. (You can find the tags below the content, in the Metadata section.) The most recent, currently used version is stated on the frontpage. If an article has an older version number, consult your PHB instead.
