The Watching Stones
Remnants of the past

On Argony, there are a group of standing stones located on a hill in the middle of the island. There are eight vertical stones, each twice as tall as a human, worn smooth by time and wind and rain. If you look closely, there are still remnants of intricate carvings that used to cover the entire surface of the stones; on three of the stones, a carving of an eye is still visible at the top, which has earnt them the name of the Watching Stones.
The stones have been there so long that their original purpose has been lost, though most scholars believe that they were originally religious in nature. It is generally agreed that they were constructed shortly after the Renewal by those who woke up on the island.
The rumours and mystery that can come out of standing stones is a well of inspiration. I wonder what those eyes are used to look toward.
I love standing stones. Such a fascinating part of our own history.
