Aeth
The glowing city

Aeth is the capital city of the Aestra, an ethnicity of polar merfolk. It is located off the coast of the Barren, the landmass that encompasses Etrea's southern pole. The Aestra are the largest of the polar subspecies of merfolk, with some individuals growing up to forty-eight feet long. As such, the city and the buildings within are constructed on a scale consistent with its inhabitants. To visitors, such as the migratory Kanai, who reach only thirty feet in length, Aeth can be overwhelming.
The majority of the architecture in Aeth is constructed mainly of viridescenite, a mineral mined extensively from underneath the Barren. This stone glows with a soft green light.
The image of this enormous, softly glowing underwater city is captivating. I'm excited to see what it looks like when you get to the art for this. How much variation in size is there among the Aestra? I know that the largest are 48 feet long, but how exceptional are those individuals compared to the general population?
The smallest would be about 40 feet long, so still quite a bit larger than all the other polar merfolk. Both the Kanai and Qasceine are on average about 30 feet, and the Ikaspi who also live around the Barren are only about 20 feet. The Aestra are in a bit of a league of their own.
