The Red Mists

One of the many threats that can plague the people of Kainga. On the rare occasion, dark streams of red mist will coaslesce in the caves from below.

Diviniation of the mist show ferrite-based toxins in the air that if left alone can stick to plants and cause rot. If inhaled without protection, the mist can eventually cause paralysis and death as it infects the lungs and skin.

The red mist is heavier than air, and so sinks to the ground on explusion, meaning it can pool in unmaintained areas.

Fan Brigade

The Red Mists aren't a common occurence, but when it occurs it requires immediate and well-trained action. The town of Kainga is built in a way where most mists flow down into the valley below through funnels and ventilation, but the mists can stick to surfaces, crops, and people if it is not vacated quickly.

Any person who can cast Meta is tasked with sweeping the village for any lingering clouds of red mist.

A Curse from Below

The Red Mists are an unknown side effect of the terraformers malfunctioning. How they are malfunctioning is speculated by the denizens. Some believe it is the spawn of an invasive species, others thing it is a chemical abnormality.

Whatever the truth it, the few engineers remaining in Kainga always strive to find a way to cure the red mist for good. Blocking off the source is impossible, as to do so would ruin the ability to farm the caves for food.
