The Obelisk of the Valley

A flicker of light caught the scouting parties eyes from the thick canopy in the valley. A metallic black pillar, a buoy breaking up the green sea of the treeline. It was an oddity, to say the least, an omen to say the worse.
Whatever that structure was, it must be huge to be visible at this distance. Dozens of Stories at least, a sky scrapper in the middle of a jungle.
History
The Obelisks were constructed by the first large-scale colonies of Fenu-Tri, many centuries before the Banner Wars. Each building was intended to be a self-sustaining compound for commuting, shopping, security, and recreation.
Architecture
The Obelisk consists of a black metal and glass. It's architecture is modern and functional; smooth and jarring when compared to the surrounding jungle.
Much of the glass has been smashed with time, but the metal structure is surprisingly intact for the centuries it has been standing amongst invading vegetation.
The interior of the Obelisk contains a multitude of districts to support Sophont life; a fully functional parking garage, a subway system to other Obelisks, a multi-story shopping mall, office and residential space, hydroponics facility for growing essential crops, and a lookout and guard facility on the top floor.
