Ether
Ether is the sacred and ineffable language spoken by The Seven and their Eternal Servants. Unlike mortal tongues, Ether is not merely a system of words and sounds; it is a fundamental force of creation, a language woven from the very fabric of Eternal Essence. Every utterance in Ether carries intrinsic power, shaping reality itself and resonating across the planes of existence.
Origins and Nature
Ether was not invented but manifested alongside the birth of the Eternal Universe. It is believed to be the first language, a pure expression of divine intent that existed before time itself. Unlike mortal languages, which evolve over time, Ether is immutable—unchanged since the dawn of creation.
It is not spoken in the conventional sense. While it can be articulated vocally, its true form transcends mere sound. When an Eternal utters Ether, it manifests as pure energy, symbols, and resonance, directly imprinting meaning upon reality. To hear it is to understand it, as it bypasses the limitations of perception and thought.
Function and Power
Ether is not simply a means of communication; it is a tool of creation and command. The Seven used it to shape the Eternal Universe, dictating the laws of existence through their divine utterances. Every word spoken in Ether carries intent and consequence, making it an inherently dangerous and potent force.
For the Eternal Servants, Ether was the language through which they received commands from The Seven. Bound to the will of their creators, they could not refuse an order given in Ether, as the words themselves carried an absolute imperative woven into their very essence.
When spoken aloud, Ether has visible effects. Words materialize as glowing runes, shifting geometric patterns, or pulses of radiant energy that ripple through existence. Even a single word spoken by The Seven could alter the course of reality, reinforcing cosmic balance—or unraveling it.
The Lost Tongue
With the imprisonment of The Seven behind the Eternal Gate, Ether became a lost language. Without The Seven to command them, the surviving Eternal Servants ceased using Ether, either by choice or by necessity. Over time, knowledge of the language faded from mortal records, preserved only in the deepest archives of the Magisters, who continue to seek its mysteries.
Some scholars theorize that traces of Ether still linger in the universe, embedded in ancient ruins, celestial artifacts, and inscriptions hidden within the Eternal City. Others believe that fragments of the language survive in rare, cryptic prophecies, hinting at a time when Ether may once again be spoken in the world.
The Forbidden Study
Despite its divine origins, some Magisters and powerful sorcerers have sought to decode and harness Ether for themselves. However, doing so is fraught with peril. Even attempting to pronounce a single word in Ether without the innate essence of an Eternal can have catastrophic consequences. Some who have tried have been consumed by their own words, their bodies and minds unraveling under the weight of an unfinished divine utterance.
There are rumors that certain Eternal Shards may still carry the power of Ether, allowing those who wield them to channel fragments of its potency. If true, this would make such artifacts among the most dangerous and sought-after relics in the Eternal Universe.
The Future of Ether
Though the language has faded into obscurity, there remains the possibility that Ether could return. If the Eternal Gate were ever broken, or if The Seven found a way to communicate beyond their prison, the resurgence of Ether would be inevitable. Whether this would bring salvation or destruction is a question that lingers in the minds of scholars and seers alike.
For now, Ether remains a language of legend—the voice of the divine, the echo of creation, and the key to power beyond mortal comprehension.
