Fleeve

Fleeve is a popular fabric derived from the fruit of the lof jabla bush. Named for the Thünard word for “cloth,” it was originally a luxury item reserved for the wealthiest citizens of Frult Üft. Since the dawn of the Second Age, however, the cultivation of lof jabla has increased exponentially and garments made from fleeve are now widespread throughout Eden.

Characteristics

Fleeve is soft, smooth, and strong. It does not rip or tear easily, but it will stretch and has excellent elasticity. Like Earthling silk, it is absorbent enough to wear in warm weather or while engaged in physical activity. The fabric is cool to the touch.

History

Dwarves have been wearing fleeve since the early days of their existence. Their home world of Thün Büldar was far more hospitable to the lof jabla bush, which helped to make the fabric the most commonly used textile throughout the dwarves’ interstellar empire.

In Eden, however, all of that changed.

Though lof jabla bushes survived The Calamity in great numbers, the dwarves found that they simply would not grow in most regions of Eden. And for much of the First Age, the one place the lof jabla did grow—Mira’s Well—was overrun by the so-called Monster Hordes.

In the Second Age, with the establishment of the Kingdom of the Realm, lof jabla farms began to spring up all along The Gush. And finally the availability of fleeve returned to some kind of normalcy.

This sounds cool, reminds me of Filipino piña cloth, but that stuff is not particularly flexible or soft! But it is beautiful.

Fleeeeeeve! It's so fun to say! I'm glad that the bushes grow more easily now.
