Egg

Egg is one of the Free Cities of Nunya and home to some of the wealthiest individuals in Eden. Principally located on Long’s Isle, the city came to infamy in the year 125 due to the so-called “Gatsby Affair.” And ever since, the posh communities of East and West Egg have struggled with their reputation as incubators for scandalous love affairs.

Geography

The city of Egg can be found on Long’s Isle in the Romita River, north and east of the Kirbyville metropolis. Though a few small islands are also included within the city limits, the bulk of society is settled on opposing peninsulas of East Egg and West Egg.

Culture

According mostly to the citizens of East Egg, there is a distinct cultural divide between the folks who dwell on each side of Simon’s Bay. East Eggers consider themselves more respectable and civilized and look down upon the “new money” families of West Egg. According to the folks of East Egg, the city’s reputation for scandal is entirely the fault of the disreputable rascals and ne’er-do-wells who live across the way.

West Eggers are split between those who would like to be seen as a decent, proper people and those who delight in trading on their city’s sordid past.

Notable Landmarks

The mansions of East and West Egg are some of the most extravagant homes in Eden. And though the only homes which offer tours to the public are to be found on West Egg, nearly every home here has a waterfront view and therefore is at least partly accessible to anyone with a boat and a camera.

The most notorious of the West Egg mansions is, of course, the one which belonged to the bootlegger James “Jimmy” Gatz—better known to history as Jay Gatsby. The dock of this dwelling is a tourist favorite, especially at night. From there, of course, one can see the mysterious Green Light which seems to emanate from Buchanan House across the bay but which, in fact, does not.

Then there is the disappointingly un-dirty Valley of Ashes, a one-time dump which has been transformed into the beautiful Worlds Showcase—an interplanetary exposition where the descendants of the first Edenians can share the cultures of their ancestors’ pre-Calamity homelands.
