Trait: Rending⚙️
Rending gives particularly sharp weapons a lasting Impression, leaving an enemy bleeding with lacerations or perforations.
Trait Mechanic⚙️
When you land a Critical Hit with a weapon with this trait, you deal additional damage equal to the weapon's base damage, in the form of Bleeding Damage⚙️ (or a type of persistent damage that accumulates, activates at The end of a creature’s turn, and then halves if the creature does not spend their actions to reduce it themselves). The Bleeding damage is equal to half the critical's damage, rounded up. You must be trained in the weapon itself to use this part of the keyword.
As an example, a normal critical strike with a Greatsword from a creature with +4 STR deals 4d6+8 Slashing damage. With Rending, that damage is 4d6+8 plus an additional 2d6+4 Bleeding damage, dealt at the end of the target creature’s turns. With a 2-stage Critical (+18 over the AC with an unmodified Greatsword), that damage becomes 6d6+12 + 4d6+8 .
