You also understand any written language that you see, but you must be touching the surface on which the words are written. It takes about 1 minute to read one page of text using this spell. This doesn't let it understand codes, language couched in metaphor, and the like (subject to GM discretion), nor does it help with Sign Languages, Mechanical Languages, or Secret Languages.
