Taskmaster Golem |
The faceless creature of stone or similar moves with a methodical, stiff gait that betrays it's weight and power. Though simple, it appears to be made for battle. Though strong looking, you know it was made to counter the magical. Indeed, whipping around it's back like some wierd alien cape, four long, metal tendrils with wands embedded in the ends turn and and survey the area like eyestalks, having already converged, and subdued, the magical among your ranks.
An original monster I'll admit isn't so original. To be honest it came in a dream and is very much inspired by an enemy from Phantasy Star Online episode 1 mixed with mini Beholder/Spectator. It is not meant to replace the Beholderkin, moreso serve as a non-copyrightable variant with some extra thematic ends.
Also worth mention is the Mage Hunter Golem from Critical Role, which the Taskmaster Golem is similar to and came first. While similar (and while CHASE's creator is totally informing their inspirations with credit), the Taskmaster Golem is purposefully different in terms of power, purpose, and grandiosity. Besides, I want the Mage Hunter Golem reference to be done another way. And for it to be better than this little experiment.
Sorry this isn't funny. :v

Features |
When an ability with the Magical that targets the Golem fails (i.e., the Taskmaster Golem Succeeds on it's saving throw, or the ability is an attack that misses), the Golem redirects the flow of errant magic, sending it to any other creature it can see within 30 ft (which can include the original ability user/spellcaster). This is done as a Free Action, and is done automatically if the Golem wishes it. If the ability was an attack, the attack is made with the Golem's own Attack and proficiency (+5, or 10 + proficiency + STR). If the ability has a save, it uses the Golem's saving throw (15, or 10 proficiency + CON)Stonegrip : 1.0
Creatures Grappled or Restrained by this creature have disadvantage on rolls to free themselves.
Actions |
The Taskmaster Golem will attack with it's arms or it's whip-like appendages. Alternatively, it will use the magical wands on the whips's ends to fire magical beams at creatures that cast magical abilities in it's presence, using two out of it's four beams and only one kind of beam per turn. It will focus on magic users before anything else threatening it.Lash | ◈ | Melee Weapon Attack, 15 ft reach | +5 to hit | Hit: 7 ( 1d6+3 ) Bludgeoning damage
