WorldEmber 2023 Homework

It's WorldEmber! And this year I'm super excited for it, especially because lately I've felt a new wave of inspiration for Minama, my sci-fantasy planet. I laid out the foundations for the planet in Summer Camp 2019 and since then, although I haven't really written much more about it, it has been evolving in my brain. And I can't wait to put everything into words!

Week 1

1. Area of focus

As mentioned in the intro, my area of focus will be Minama. I'm taking the planet as a whole, although I'll probably focus on specific areas where "things are happening". Which areas, you ask? No idea! A self-imposed homework assignment for this month is remaking the article about the planet (which is why it's private as of the writing of this assignment). Once I have the new foundations of the planet, I'll be able to better gauge which area I want to develop the most. However, as WorldEmber doesn't have specific prompts, I will let my creativity take me anywhere! I like going with the flow, and I don't intend to change that now!

Week 2

The second week is about creating a mini-meta! As I mentioned in the previous week, I'm focusing on the planet of Minama, so here's a really quick mini-meta:

Scope: Minama is an entire planet, so I'll focus on three specific areas: the three countries that are more influential in the world (I don't have final names for them yet). The rest of the planet will be a backdrop, although I will focus a bit on off-planet things, such as space exploration. I also want to develop their magic system.
Themes and mood: Minama is generally a noble-bright world, and although it does have some darker elements, individual people have the power to change and improve their lives.
Goals: When the planet is sufficiently fleshed out, it will become the setting for a science fantasy campaign using my RPG system (Black Light RPG). I will keep this in mind as I worldbuild, to make sure there are good plot hooks I can use, as well as making it compatible with the basic rules of my system.
