These dread creatures were once Wind Dukes of Aqaa. They supported the Aqaan expedition to Cuenaloth and did not evacuate Aqaa before it was destroyed, as the Ranger Lords did. These remaining Wind Dukes were caught and trapped within the Dwimmerwash unleashed during the Aqaa-dûr-Átalan and the Great Sundering.
They were swepped along, inside the Dwimmerwash as it traveled across Cullereon and out toward the Walls of Aaroth, and then trapped inside the roiling energy, absorbing the eldritch power until they were released by the Event that freed the dwimmerlaik. The process drove them mad and changed them forever into fearsome creatures of spirt, magic, and wrath.
