The Titans

Origins and Purpose

The Titans were fashioned in ages past by a cabal of ancient sorcerer-kings who sought to harness the very essence of nature and reality. Fearing the chaotic wildness of raw magic, the sorcerer-kings bound each Titan to a specific element, believing they could control these forces by embedding them in physical, sentient forms. Initially, the Titans existed to guard the realms against colossal threats - be they storms of unbridled magic or invaders from beyond. However, as the centuries wore on, the Titans developed wills of their own, shaping goals and desires that often diverged from the ones set by their creators.   Each Titan carries with it the legacy of those ancient sorcerer-kings who sought to control the elemental forces by turning them into living beings. Over time, those controlling wards have weakened or broken entirely, leaving the Titans free to pursue their own designs - whether destructive, protective, or inscrutable. They were rivalling the Old Gods in power (and actually doing a better job), thus were banned by them.

Tarnus, Titan of Earth

Visual Description
Tarnus appears as a towering figure hewn from rock and precious metals. Veins of crystal glow beneath his stony exterior, and his eyes glimmer like emeralds. Great slabs of shale shift across his body, almost like armour plating.
Powers
Tarnus wields immense control over the ground beneath him. He can cause earthquakes, erect colossal walls of stone, or shape entire landscapes with a sweep of his arm. Crops can flourish or fail at his bidding, and he can move through solid earth as effortlessly as mortals walk through air.
Goals
Tarnus values stability and endurance above all else. He seeks a world in which every kingdom and empire stands firm, unchanging. In his view, unrelenting growth leads to chaos, and he has been known to intervene in mortal affairs when he believes a realm’s expansion threatens the land’s natural balance.
Secrets
Hidden Grove: Tarnus is rumoured to have harboured a protected grove deep within the earth, where he experimented with growing magical flora. Some say it’s a sanctuary for those fleeing from the surface world.   Buried Regret: Tarnus feels shame for the devastation caused by his earthquakes in ages past, particularly a cataclysmic shift that swallowed a city dear to him. He rarely speaks of it, but it drove his need to keep the land at peace.

Ignath, Titan of Fire

Visual Description
Ignath’s immense form is wreathed in flame, his features seemingly carved from smouldering obsidian. Molten rivers glow beneath cracks in his dark skin, and when his rage flares, fire roils off him in sheets of blazing heat.
Powers
From conjuring volcanic eruptions to summoning firestorms, Ignath’s domain is all-consuming flame. He can heat the air with a thought, melt steel with a single touch, and even spark wildfires across entire regions. Those who fight him must contend with blistering temperatures and sudden bursts of lava.
Ignath by Tillerz using MJ
Goals
Ignath longs for perpetual renewal through destruction. He sees fire as the force that clears old growth to make way for new life. Entire civilisations can fall under his destructive view of “necessary purging.” Mortals who stand in his path find him unyielding - yet some cults worship him for the power he grants.
Secrets
Forgotten Hearth: Deep underground, Ignath kept an ever-burning coal said to hold the spark of his essence. If extinguished, some believe Ignath would be greatly diminished - or perhaps even destroyed.   Moments of Mercy: Though he embodies destruction, there are tales of Ignath saving mortal children from his inferno. Whether these incidents were flukes or signs of a hidden compassion remains a mystery.

Gelara, Titan of Ice

Gelara by Tillerz using MJ
Visual Description
Gelara’s body is composed of glacial ice, adorned with spires of frost jutting from her limbs. She moves with a chilling grace, leaving frozen footsteps behind her. Sometimes the light refracts through her crystalline skin, creating a dazzling aura.
Powers
Gelara can manipulate temperatures to sub-zero extremes, forming walls of ice or freezing entire lakes with a simple gesture. She can encase foes in solid ice, summon blizzards, and shape ice sculptures so intricate they defy mortal skill.
Goals
Viewing emotion as a dangerous warmth, Gelara sought to bring cold equilibrium to Alana. She believes passion and conflict melt away in the grip of winter’s serenity. From her hidden glacier fortress, she contemplated the slow spread of ice across the lands, ensuring calm at any cost.
Secrets
Hidden Affection: Despite her frosty demeanour, Gelara once spared a mortal kingdom from her endless winter, rumoured to be out of love for a solitary poet who wrote verses lauding her beauty.   Eternal Slumber: Legends claim Gelara returned periodically to a secret, frozen lair to hibernate for decades or centuries. During these slumbers, her influence receded - granting some respite to the realms she threatend with ice.

Aeonius, Titan of Air

Visual Description
Aeonius is a colossal, almost translucent figure constantly surrounded by swirling gusts and crackling lightning. Swirling patterns of silver wind etch across his pale, cloud-like skin, and his voice resonates like thunder in a stormy sky.
Powers
Commanding the wind and weather, Aeonius can whip up hurricanes, direct bolts of lightning, or blow entire armies off course. His dominion includes the power of flight and a near-omnipresence within any storm.
Goals
Aeonius has wanderlust unlike his siblings. Yearning to roam wherever the sky stretches, he values freedom above all else. He is drawn to explorers and navigators, occasionally guiding them through storms - when it suits his fancy. He opposes anything that would lock the world into stasis, believing that everything must remain in motion.
Secrets
Anchored Storm: Aeonius hides a single place where he is bound to the earth, an ancient mountaintop shrine built by his creators to ensure they could summon him. Though he detests it, he cannot yet break the bond. Over centuries, that shrine grew into the Golden City.   Stolen Fury: Long ago, Aeonius’ storms ravaged a proud city that supposedly insulted him. Guilt lead him to occasionally send gentle rains to farmland or turn aside cyclones that might cause widespread harm.

Narthos, Titan of Darkness

Visual Description
Narthos appears as a towering silhouette of swirling shadow, with faint glints of starlight within his form. Wisps of ebony mist coil around him. His features are indistinct, yet two glowing eyes of deep violet pierce through the gloom.
Powers
Narthos wields darkness in all its forms - he can snuff out light, create illusions in deep shadow, or manifest tangible nightmares to haunt the minds of his foes. He can also merge with darkness, vanishing and reappearing at will, making him nearly impossible to track.

Goals
Preferring mystery and hidden truths, Narthos hungers for knowledge mortals keep secret. He thrives where fear reigns, believing that only in the blackness can true understanding of oneself be found. Some cults worship him as a guide to secrets, while others dread him as the embodiment of terror.
Secrets
Veiled Library: Deep within a cavern system is said to lie Narthos’ personal archive, filled with forbidden tomes. A few daring souls have glimpsed it, only to lose their minds to the revelations within.   Melancholy of Light: Narthos harbours a curious admiration for genuine acts of compassion or bravery that stand out like a candle in the dark. He sometimes tested mortals, forcing them to confront their own shadows to see if they can triumph over despair.

Chronsis, Titan of Time

Chronsis by Tillerz using MJ
Visual Description
Chronsis is the least physically imposing but perhaps the most unsettling of the Titans. He takes the form of a tall, pale figure wrapped in overlapping layers of translucent cloth or parchment, each layer covered in shifting runes. His eyes glow with clock-like irises, and a soft ticking can be heard wherever he treads. He is the maker of the first Titanforged.
Powers
Chronsis manipulates time itself, able to slow or hasten moments, cause aging in living beings, or revert structures to earlier states. Some claim he can step outside the flow of time, observing crucial events across centuries - though he rarely intervened.
Goals
Chronsis is detached and ever-watchful, more observer than active participant. He sees Alana’s past, present, and future all at once, believing his role is to ensure the cosmos follows its proper path. If he deemed a threat might destabilise time, he did act decisively and with sudden force. He is still watching Alana from his place of banishment.
Secrets
The Shattered Hourglass: Within an abandoned fortress in the Technocracy of Magramine lies a broken relic called the Shattered Hourglass, created as a fail-safe by the sorcerer-kings. If repaired, it might grant mortals the ability to neutralise Chronsis - or bend him to their will.   Eternal Regret: Chronsis is haunted by moments in history he witnessed but did not stop - calamities he believes were destined to happen. He still quietly ponders whether fate can or should be changed.

Wonderful concept and the descriptions of the various titans are lovely. Do they sometimes fight each other? I would imagine that Ignath and Tarnus aren't really good friends ... Or Tarnus and Aoenius ...

No one knows what they do in the plane they are trapped in, does it even have time? If not, is Chronsis able to keep them in a time bubble? If so, would he?

I don't know which one is my favourite, but I kind of love Tarnus and his hidden regrets.
