As you're reading it that night you find a tale of how the writer and someone named Maximus ended up in the city of Kairau, and met a man named Cadius. There was a connection between Cadius and the writer that seemed to assist the writer in some way. The writer spends time describing how they can faintly feel the pull of their husband coming from the Northeast, but can't seem to muster up the magic to get to him, particularly with Maximus.
You get to the point where Maximus seems to have connected with his magic faster then the writer and is sent out to find his father and let him know that the writer is okay. "I hope that Maximus can at least find Otto. We haven't been apart this long since we got married. I miss my husband and the rest of our family."
As you are reading. It takes a week before the writer talks about something other then the area of Kairau. Cadius seems to have arranged transport for the writer and Maximus to Port Radiant, where the writer is to work at a shop called the Dust and Incantation. You find out it takes another week before the writer is reunited with Otto, and still a week after that before they're able to find a Johann and Belis, along with Miariah. The writer seems very happy to have Miariah back, but a bit concerned about the rest of their family, particularly since Belis, Otto, and the writer's magic seems to be coming back slowly.
Johann is able to take the writer and Otto back to Ink, and you get about a week of information about various people still missing, notes about locations on a map and names.
It's noted that Belis, Miariah, and Johann arrived on an island. Nori along with someone named Galrazon were found in Mortar Lane. Elizabeth and Malrack in Liverlot. "We're still missing so many. haven't been able to scry for Hades. Gowther and Velvet have apparently taken a small vacation in Lade, an island kingdom to the north while looking for some of those we're still missing, as both of their children were with us here in Nulbadah. Now we just need Abraxas to wake up. He's been out for a month now."
