Session 1: Getting off the boat
General Summary
Five strangers stepped off a boat in Mistlecross, two searching for individuals they've lost, one looking for adventure, one looking to get stronger, and one just looking to help her family survive. From an execution, to the discovery of 19 missing children, these individuals have now set on a path to redeem the name of the sea creatures, and find the true perpatrators of this horrenous crime. How does this mysterious note from McClain fit in? Where is the missing Princess Beatrice? Who started the fire?
Session Events
Our story being with Abraham, Aommon, Aria, Layla and Willow getting off of Misty's Nest in the town of Mistlecross. As they step off the boat they notice that something is going on in the town square, several push to the front of the throng to discover an execution is about to take place. What looks like a human is being called a monster, and when drenched with a bucket of water changes form to show a very triton like individual that is a vibrant blueish puple in color, with coral like hair and a tail. Chants from the crowd emerge with "Monster." "Murder him." "Justice for the young."
The speaker offers a boung of 100 gold pieces for any creature caught and brought in, dead or alive.
As the man leaves, Abraham follows him. Abraham trys to question the man regarding his missing Princess Beatrice, but his personal guards don't want to let him get close. Eventually Abraham grabs the guard and throws him 40 years behind him into the ocean. The other three guards take a defensive stance until the gentleman realizes that the Princess is missing, which causes him to be both scared and confused. The man agrees to leave Abraham alone in his search for the princess.
Several of the passengers of the Misty Nest head towards the Nasty Crystal Inn. Aommon begins looking for an indivudal named Victoria Vance. Aommon joins a local poker game with a 5gp buy in and plays 3 rounds, winning 13 GP on the first hand, and nothing on the subsequent hands.
Abraham and Aria walk around town looking for crime, though not much is seen. Two individuals are seen making a beline towards the docks with their hoods down. Abraham attempts to stop the individuals, and is unsuccessful until he grabs them by their shoulders and takes the hood off of one of them. The lady glares at him. Singular in his focus to find his princess, Abraham begins to question the ladies. The ladies focused on catching their ship try to get away from Abraham, who does stop the ship so the ladies will cooperate with him. He asks if they know of any illegal activity and they mention some scams in the fish market alogn with the people going missing. When asked for their names the ladies give Ayla and Meorise Loratris.
On Willow and Layla's way to the White Road Market, Willow runs into an individual who drops a crystal the same solor as the person who was executed earlier in the day. Willow buys a coat for 5 gp. After Willow buys her coat the ladies make their way to the Nasty Crystal where Willow asks the dwarven bartender if they recognize the crystal, and they are advised that it's not a natural crystal. Layla looks for a messenger to send note to Wintersgrasp, but the local messanger doesn't know where Wintersgrasp is.
Abraham and Aria make their way to the Glass Empress to see if there is any informaiton there pertaining to either Princess Beatris or Victoria Vance. The bar tender seems to have a lot of information regarding the royal family, including a glass statue of the queen in the center of the bar. He seemed confused and shocked that the Princess was missing. It is discovered that there are two gangs operating in the town: The Black Assult, and The Northerners.
- The Black Assult - works with some of the city council. Barkeep at the Glass Empress reports people that he sees coming and going from the docks. Has been known to work near the Naughty Siren, a tavern/brothel located at the northern point of the hot springs.
- The Northerners - come and go where they see fit.
Abraham and Aria make their way to the Naughty Siren, a dimly lit tavern/brothel that gives off very relaxed vibes, in part do to the weird vials on the tables. Abraham purchases an hour of the bartender Mariam's time for 10 gp. It turns out that information regarding Princess Beatrice or Victoria is not easy to come by. Abraham makes the aquaintance of an individual by the name of Sayles, which is to be used to get information from any establishment associated with the Black Assult. Abraham leaves and Marriam walks out shortly thereafter with messy hair.
The party reconvines and leaves the tavern. Shortly thereafter, a woman comes running up screaming that Willow has stolen her crystal. They question the woman regarding the origin of the crystal and it is revealed that the crystal apparently came from a mine far off land. The group follows the woman through town back to her home. Some in the party realized they were being followed by individuals from the Black Assult. The woman, a human, says that she was aware that her fiance wasn't human, and that the se monsters, as the town calls them, were not involved int he napping of the children, byut hat he was investigating the dissapearance when he was capured by the town's guard. The Black Assult, who made their presence known confims that they hired the man who was assassinated earlier today and recommends that they return to the Naughty Siren for a more private conversation.
After returning to the Naughty Siren, and entering a private room, the group learns that children as young as 5 and as old as 18 have gone missing. The Black Assult offers the group 500 gp for information on who is takinng the chilren and where they are being taken. Additionaly 25gp per child is offered for any child they return to the town. While the town is confident that it's the sea creatures, the Black Assult thinks that someone on the council is pushing an agenda. Of the 19 children who have gone missing over the past several weeks only six were originally orphans.
The party begins investigating the locations of the dissappaerances. At one home they discover that there was a strange buszzing sound the parent couldn't explain, and when they went in to check on their child, they were gone. One of the fathers can't see how since he's come into contact with a few of these sea creatures. Abraham's sensors pick up residual magic in one of the kids rooms. he gets the sense that the entry was magic based. One low level spell was cast and a high level spell was cast. The residual magic is strongest at the last house. There Abraham is able to get a faint singnature of a person, watches them appear in the room, cast a spell quickly, grab the two children and vanish into thin air. The party finds a notecard in the room under the bed.
At the last house they discover a knocked over nightstand with scratchmarks on it.
Aria and Abraham take the note to the local Cobalt Marines ship, where she asks about McClain and asks if any magic users are avaiable to follow up on the houses. Afterwards they head to the town council. There they discover that there are four council members.

When they provide their update, Don and Fred both become stiff and turn towrds James. James suggests it's time to get a fresh pair of eyes and tells his guys theat they'll be following up on the work that Don had previously done Susan agrees instantly, James hesitates then agrees, And Fred tells Don if he doens't agree he'll look suspicious.
Aommon, Willow, and Layla head to the Naughty Siren to provide an update. As Aria and Abraham rejoin the others a siren is sounded.
There's a fire in the town. Abraham runs out the door, down the hall, turns around and runs through the wall next to the door to the town. The others follow, and discover that the single father's house that they had talked to earlier today is on fire. The dad comes out holding an individual, and runs back into the house. Someone throws water in to help put out the fire, and hits the dad, who Abraham and Aommon see have black scales. The Dad, Abraham, and Aommon carry the council members out and as the guards move in to arrest them Susan tells them to stand down.
