My name is Hona Keymas and I'm from the great City-State of Passen on Lesiaed. Today is my first day as a new apprentice for the Cartographer of the Earth Ward, Ednik. Only two new apprentices are chosen a cycle, so this is a HUGE honor. I hope the Earth Elemental is nice. I heard someone whisper that he has the ear of the Wild Mother herself. Can you believe being able to speak with the gods?!?! I wonder if the elementals are really the champions of the gods?
Here's a copy of the first map he had us work on today, a portion of the city. I hope it meets his standards.
To be able to work with Cartographer Ednik is such an honor, and one that I've been hoping to receive since I was old enough to know what a map, and even a cartographer was. My parent say that I use to run around saying that I was greatest cartographer on the planet.

Rumors are swirling about a city appearing about half a day south-east of Passan. Ednik has been volunteered to head out with some of the militia, which means Tobias and I are going too. I wonder where this city has come from?
The city is called Banar-Kinting, and it's beautiful.
Tobias and I got introduced to the Guild of Free Cartographers, who have made it their mission to document various worlds. Ednik has reached a deal with Guild Master Brennus that Tobias and I will study here until they leave to learn other techniques and develop our own style for our personal logs.
We've spent the past week studying with various members of the Guild. There are so many various styles...I've already started adding some of these to my personal style guide. I can't wait to travel to build my own maps.
It was several hours after we arrived today and I began working with Durz that the Guild Master Brennus summoned Tobias and me. He informed us that Banar-Kinting has left Lesiaed........they have no way to get us back.......

Durz has taken Tobias and myself in. She’s a lovely ogre who also ended up in Banar-Knitting on accident.
Brennus claims they can’t control the city of Banar Kniting, but I can’t help but call minatour crap. I mean you honestly have no idea how or why a city randomly teleports, and yet you allow people from other planets to explore your city, knowing that you could take them with you?!?
Durz claims this happens on most of the planets they visit. The city has some mysterious purpose, even she doesn’t know about, and she says they seem to be chasing something. Even spending the last 35 years here they’ve yet to tell her what that something is.
Tobias and I have now stayed with Durz for the last 10 years. Gods I can’t believe we’ve been gone from Passen for that long. I can’t help but wonder about Ednik, and our parents….How is the city doing? Guild Master Brennus has finally been replaced by a woman named Rory Sefrihet. She seems nice enough, at least while she was walking around introducing herself to the archive workers. To be honest I want nothing to do with her, very similar to how I’ve wanted nothing to do with Brennus for the last several years.
What are they chasing? What in the name of the elements is going on? Even Tobias is confused and he’s been acting as a field cartographer for the last 4 years. He sends encoded messages for me back in his correspondence, and has always remained close to the city, considering we’re all each other has left of Passen.
It’s funny isn’t it. We started out as competitors, and yet now he’s my closest friend.

By the Gods, not Tobias......
They still haven't found a way to return us to Milleadh. And Tobias left the Archive and become a field cartographer, and now his journal has gone dark. I don't know how much more of this I can take. We've been trying to return for the last 10 years, to no avail. It's almost as if the Gods are keeping us away. When I wanted to be a cartographer, I didn't want to travel to different planets and hunt these creatures.....I wanted to document the changes on Milleadh, to work with the Elementals.
Do you have some greater purpose for us..........for me?!?
They sent a team out after him, and they came back with Tobias' journal and his sack. I can't believe all this time Tobias has kept Ednik's seal. We were each given one when we became apprentices. I didn't realize that Tobias kept his on him, too.
All I want to do is return his things to his parents now, and I can't.
I received a missive from the new Guild Master today. She thinks she can get me back, or as close as possible. She's requested that I become a field cartographer and head to a planet that has massive amounts of Chaos energy. They've had luck opening the portal briefly, and believe that I can make it through, but they can't promise that I'll be able to come back. Banar Kinting has been my home for 10 years now.....Do I really want to leave it? Do I want to leave it on a chance?
I've finally made my decision. Packed Tobias' satchel with my journal, both of Ednik's seals, Tobias' personal journal to hopefully one day return to his family, and a newly appointed blood journal.
