Temple of The Damned
Brief overview
Originally called the Final Rest, this sacred temple was once dedicated to the god of death Anubis, however, once he was sealed within the The Box of Blasphemy it laid dormant for years before a traveling necromancer refurbished it. The necromancer, a man by the name of Magnus, had breathed life into a cult dedicated to helping the dead find their final resting place. They called themselves The Damned. These cultists took up residence in the temple, caring for it as it was originally intended in order to avoid offending the lost god it truly belonged to.General Overview
Many years after the disappearance of Magnus, the cult of the Damned was taken over by a man named Aliskar who believed that the dead were meant only to aid the living. The temple took on a much darker aura from then on. A heavy fog rolled in and refused to disperse, remaining suspended over the Damned Temple like a blanket capable of concealing even sonlight. The exterior began to depreciate and eroded for a few centuries before the creation of the Necronomicon, a unique slip scroll made from the flesh of powerful necromancers which was written with ink made from the blood of dead mortals. Upon the binding of its final page, Magnus their savior, had been summoned. He took back the temple from Alaskar and set to work repairing it, bringing it back to its former glory.Once the temple was repaired, Magnus left again for some time before returning with the corpse of his lover. Many speculate this was due to his inability to let go after her death, however, several accounts of the cadaver seen roaming the temples halls on its own while singing a song called Death to Divinity have been reported to Edenpol officials. No matter the time of day, her eerie presence still haunts the once hallowed halls of this Damned temple.
Purpose / Function
It's original purpose was to grant eternal rest to all dead who entered, but after the Gilded Ankh of Anubis was removed from the stone monument in the lower levels of the building, it was no longer considered hallowed grounds.
It's purpose then shifted to housing the members of The Damned, a cult known to publicly practice necromancy. They ran the newly titled Temple of the Damned for several centuries before their leader Magnus, disappeared and a man named Aliskar took his place. While under the lead of Aliskar the cult took a dark turn, spending the time they would've normally spent convening with the dead to instead seek out every piece of knowledge regarding necromancy, the force of death, and the force of life. Eventually they collected enough to bind into a large slip scroll which they later titled the Necronomicon, however, upon it's creation the ritual used backfired and the temple once again belonged to Magnus, who reminded those left on Adele that the temple was meant to be respected. He declared its grounds as off limits due to the fact its soils were now tainted as unhallowed grounds from the practices used while Aliskar was in lead.
