Pity Mersyus Character in The Garden that Burned | World Anvil

Pity Mersyus

Pity is the Goddess of Mercy, though she goes by "Piy."
She was publicly revealed to be one of the divine lies, a god made not manifested or ascended, during The Destruction of Kumlan. Pity embodies the spirit of her domain, granting her idea of mercy to those who call to her. Death.
She believes death to be a predictable comfort, whereas life is filled with many trials and pains. It is better to end it for the weak.

Divine Domains

Pity rules over the domain of mercy. Unfortunately her perspective of what defines mercy is a little twisted, causing her to slay who it is that pray to her instead of saving them. Despite the fact that her religion is rarely practiced in modern day Eden, many still follow to common saying;
"Never pray for mercy... She might hear you."
- A commonplace phrase.

Tenets of Faith

She believes that those who pray to her are too weak to handle the harsh reality of this world and it is best for her to give them true mercy. She justifies killing her devout by preaching that she's freeing their souls to be born in stronger bodies, bodies that may not need pray to her this time around.
Her name is where the actual concept of Pity came from on Eden.
