Needle & Pins

Thank you! I got it at Needle & Pins in 00-03. The artist working there is super stand-offish, but they can work wonders. I should get another one there...I've been thinking...
— A person to another
This is one of very few Tattoo studios in the Monochrome section on The Station. It is owned by Aeyd a reclusive "oddball" with a socialite family. The studio does tattoos and piercings.   The store has moved around a bit since its start, but it is currently sitting between a Police Box and a store for artists. Many of the studio's repeat clients think it's an odd choice of location, but the store has been here longer than usual.

The building

With two floors, the building is exactly like all other buildings on this level of Monochrome. The sign is small and easy to miss compared to the other shops in the area. The people working in the other stores usually have to direct new clients looking for the studio. While the other stores have a large 6x5 meter room, this studio is sectioned off by thin walls.   After the entrance door is a tiny room with two couches against the left and the right wall. The couch is for people either waiting for either their consultation or the time for their tattoo. On the wall across from the entrance is a door. Behind this door is a room with two tattoo stations, one to the left and one to the right. The wall across from the door has three doors. Two doors lead to small bathrooms, and the larger one leads to the elevator to the next floor. The next floor contains Aeyd’s apartment. Turning around, there are three doors. On the left side of the waiting room door is a small storage room, and on the right is a small restroom for employees with a table, chairs, a tea set, and a microwave.

The store

Almost every surface of the black walls is covered by framed art pieces or framed photos of tattoos. Below the black pleather couches in the waiting room are fluffy purple carpets. The floors are white wood, and the sections in the ceiling are white. The other rooms have the same aesthetic. The ergonomic tattoo stools that the artists use have black pleather seats, and so do the adjustable tattoo chair and table for the clients. There are also black wooden cabinets and cupboards around the walls.   The clients make their appointments on the site and turn up at the studio when it’s time. The sliding door to the entrance of the waiting room can be opened with a QR code that the site provides to the client's modi around half an hour before the appointment. The client can then wait on one of the couches until either Aeyd or their apprentice opens the door to the other room and lets them in. The consultations are free, but the tattoo sessions are paid for on the client’s modi after the session.

Origin

When Aeyd graduated from art university 15 years ago, they got an apprenticeship with a tattoo artist in the Violet section of The Station. After one and a half years, they finished their apprenticeship and got hired by another studio in the same section. They worked there for a little while but decided that they didn't really like working at another person's studio and opened their own. The studio moved around for a little bit until it settled in this building, where it has now stayed for around a year.

Opening hours

The studio is open when there are people who want to get a tattoo or a consultation. Aeyd always have their weekends off though, so they can work in their garden.

Employees

Aeyd was the only person working at the Studio until Cel managed to bully Aeyd into accepting them as an apprentice. Cel has now worked at the studio for a couple of months, and they do get along well. Cel has also set it up so that guest artists visit the studio from other planets. These guest artists are advertised on the site, which has drawn more clients to the studio.   Aeyd refuses to hire any more people, though.
