Visian Species in Melior | World Anvil

Visian

Maned bipedal folk originating from beyond the rifts.

This article is still a Work In Progress!
Visian folk came to Melior through the rifts that opened around 50 years ago during the cataclysmic events of The Rupture. These bipedal folk have coarse fur and are easily recognisable by their magnificent manes and canine-like faces.   Like many other folk kinds not native to Melior they were initially met with skepticism and hostility, even when the majority of Fisian folk who came through the rifts did so on peaceful and un-armed terms.   It's been more than fifty years since their arrival, and they are a welcome part of society in many countries of Melior, though some folks in older generations still cling to their misguided old beliefs and values about them.   They can live to be around 70 years old and typically bear one cub at a time (instances of twins, triplets and quadruplets are rare, but not uncommon). They are an omnivorous folk but have a large preference for meat and fish based dishes.   They are often associated with professions that suit their fine senses of sight, hearing, and smell - such as: tracking, hunting, navigation, and intricate work such as that of a jeweler or painter.   Unlike many other folk kinds, fisians are more or less nocturnal at heart - though it isn't true for every individual. This has given them an unfortunate and cruel stereotype of being secretive or lazy in some countries, which many resident fisians try to avoid by matching the time schedules of the local folks around them (even if they feel a bit groggy).
