An energetic drink from the rainforests of Melopia

Grit is a popular, non-alcoholic vitality drink that has become the latest trend in The Isles of Meles. The drink originated from the rainforests of Melopia, and is named after both the appearance of the plant's beans (which look like coarse gravel) and also the effects of digestion which give the consumer more grit, or energy.
The grit beans are harvested, washed of any naturally occuring fungi and then dried in the sun. The beans are then pounded into a very fine powder, kneaded into a dough and then shaped into coin sized pieces (called Grit coins) for convenient transport and sales. Grit coins are then crumbled into hot water and dissolved before consuming.
The term "spending grit coins" refers to the number of grit drinks consumed. Having too much grit in one day can lead to a major caffeine crash (also referred to as "grit crash").

Grit has a light, fruity flavour with an acidic tang to it. It can be enjoyed as a hot beverage similar to tea, or it can be infused with fruits or juices.
Even after one cup, the consumer will feel a tingly sensasion and an increased feeling of vitality. Many Melesians now drink this with their morning meal before they begin their daily tasks.

The drink is highly stimulating and prevents drowsiness, however, over consuming can lead to hyperactivity, shaking limbs, hypersensitivity to the senses and irrational bowel movements.
