Lancewood Species in Melior | World Anvil

Lancewood

A tough and spiky plant used as a deterrent for trespassers.

Lancewood is a thorny plant native to Anvil that is infamous for its lethally long thorns. The plant was originally found spreading in huge thickets in the wild before folks started to cultivate them as natural barriers to protect their homes from trespassers.
"If you get stuck in a lancewood bush, it's safer and quicker to just cut your clothes free and run home nude."
— Advice from a local guide.
The small red flowers have a faint scent to them and a lancewood bush in bloom is often described locally as a "blood bloom" and the tiny orange berries are harvested for their alchemical properties.
