Strange & grim - old The Baennor Timeline Timeline

The Baennor Timeline

In the Beginning

  • One Billion Years Ago
The Old Ones create the Universe
    Celestial

In the beginning, the Great Old Ones lived in the featureless Astral plane. They were masters of a domain in which they could simultaneously create and destroy anything they desired. In a flash of brilliance (or madness) the old ones created the multiverse, a vast collection of different planes of existence. Upon this canvas, the Great Old Ones would spend the eons playing "The Game", creating and destroying worlds, systems, even entire galaxies at a whim.

  • For Over 900 Million Years...
    The Great Game
    Celestial

For millions upon millions of years, the Old Ones played their Great Game using the multiverse as their game board. Entire galaxies would be created at the behest of these all-powerful beings, only to be destroyed as if pawns in this cosmic power struggle.

  • Roughly 1,000,000 Years Ago
The Old Ones enter Torpor - Into the Eternal Slumber
    Celestial

Sometime around 1,000,000 years ago, after ruling the multiverse for the better part of a billion years, the Great Old Ones simply stopped. They seem to have entered a state of torpor and ceased The Game. They ceased everything. Their minions, servants, and slaves across worlds uncountable were quietly and nearly instantaneously abandoned. Left to their own devices, beings across the multiverse began to shape themselves into various factions and regimes. Planets seemingly took on lives of their own as their populations grew and matured. Armies rose and fell, as each vied for supremacy in their own pocket of the multiverse.

The Age of Chaos

400,000 years ago

Nihor, the Plane of Chaos, was the first of the outer planes to wash over the Inner Planes. The Chaos Lords ravaged the Inner Planes for millennia before finally losing their grip.

  • Nihor, the Plane of Chaos, Resident in the Inner Planes
Nihor, The Plane of Chaos, Is Resident
    Celestial

Nihor is a large plane and its influence severe. The entire trip through the Inner Spheres took nearly 250,000 years. During that time on Baennor, the Dominion of Wrycrahx was established on the continent of Daeleus. Major Domo Wrycrahx created powerful armies of giants and goblinoids to stretch across all corners of the planet. His rule was absolute, terrible, and infinite. Even after Nihor exited The Prime, and its influence faded, it would be over 50,000 years before Wrycrahx' grip on Baennor would finally begin to loosen over Baennor.

  • 340,000 years ago
    Dominion of Wrycrahx Founded
    Founding

When Nihor entered the Inner Planes, each of the seven realms were invaded by various overlords of the Plane of Chaos. Across planets and systems throughout the Prime, Chaos Lords brought or created their armies to lay waste and conquer. On Baennor, the Major Domo was Wrycrahx, the Father of Goblins.   Wrycrahx created all of the goblinoids - including bugbears, goblins, orcs, and ogres - that once swarmed over nearly all of Baennor.   This Dominion was founded at or around 320,000 years ago.

All of the Outer Planes travel the ethereal river, Isleron. Slowly, inexorably. Nihor passed from the Inner Planes around 150,000 years ago.

The Age of The Court

144,000 years ago

Following closely on the heels of Nihor, The Dreaming was the next of the Outer Planes to be resident within the Inner Planes. The fey of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, forever at war with the Chaos Lords, invaded the Prime with all their might and glory. The Age of The Court had begun.

The Dreaming, Realm of the Fey, is Resident
    Celestial

The Dreaming is closely tied to Nihor on the great ethereal river, Isleron. Some 6,000 years after Nihor left the Inner Planes, The Dreaming would take up residence within the Inner Planes.

Aos'Si are born to the Fey Courts
    Life, Birth

The fey courts - Summer, Spring, Winter, and Fall were at odds with a great many things, but those who were present on Baennor shared a common desire to rid the planet of the affront to life that was the goblinoid hordes. They had been fighting for several thousand years, attempting to wrest control of the planet from the Daelus Dominion, but try as they might, their numbers were replenished too quickly.   128,000 years ago, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts introduced the aos'si to Baennor - a long-lived, race they could manifest in high numbers to counter the fetid goblins and orcs.

    Orc Hordes on Eryphir Rebel
    Revolution

Once Nihor's hold on Baennor began to wane, the Dominion began to fracture. The orcs on Eryphir were at constant war with the Seelie Courts. They began to see they were on their own and were only paying tribute to a shadow of the once great Dominion of Daelus. Around 70,000 years ago, the Great Empire of M'ghor was founded as the Dominion of Daelus fell.

    Destruction of Pyorxic
    Military action

The aos'si court sent a group of fey to the capital city of the Wrycrahx Dominion with a massive weapon in tow. The group successfully infiltrated the host and detonated the weapon, destroying the city in a massive magical explosion. While the fey themselves were also slain, the last vestiges of the Chaos Lords were eradicated on Baennor.

The Age of the Elementals

35,000 years ago

When the Dreaming finally exited the Inner Planes, there was a time of great turmoil and strife. For the first time in half of a million years there was no Outer Planar influence on the Inner Planes.   The lords of each of the elemental planes forged a pact to take control of the eight realms of the Inner Planes - Apiomia, Ionios, Philogistia, Prime, Radiant, Sulfurias, Shadow, and the Wild.

  • 2521 BV
    The Destruction of Dwverheim
    Disaster / Destruction

The dwearh were the first to rebel against their elemental masters. In the year 2521 BV, the dwearh began sacking portals and gateways connecting their cities to the elemental planes. Overseers and other minions of the elemental lords were slain or imprisoned and the dwearh declared themselves independent.    Their independence lasted only hours before the elemental lords responded. Their retribution was swift and absolute, destroying the dwearh's largest city of Dwverheim, killing nearly a million dwearh and forever destroying their legacy in the Reinhelm mountains.

    Ascension to the Radiant
    Celestial

Whether through research or divine providence, the people of Eryphir discovered the tools they needed to combat the tyranny of the elemental lords. The Inner planes of the Radiant and the Shade are opposing visions of the Prime. The Radiant being the bright, optimistic mirror image of the Prime, where the Shade reflects the darker, more malevolent side of the Prime.    When the daonni and dwearh conspired to ascend to godhood, they did so in an effort to throw off the yoke of their elemental masters.   All told, some 20 or so heroes successfully made the trek to the Radiant or the Shade, ascending (or descending) to become the New Gods of Baennor.

  • 1986 BV
    Overthrow of the Elemental Lords
    Revolution

The spark of rebellion had been lit following the dwearh insurrection in 2,521 BV. Skirmishes and guerrilla warfare continued unabated for over 500 years with no side gaining dominance over the other. It was not until the arrival of the New Gods that the people of Eryphir had the strength of will and purpose, unified under a common bond, to defeat the elemental lords.   By 1886 BV, the elemental lords had been completely cast out of the Prime on Baennor, making way for the daonni and dwearh to carve their own path.

The Age of Magic

1900 years ago

After the fall of the elemental lords, the world of Baennor entered an age of magic where the confluences of new and old met to herald in a new age of advancement for all the people of Baennor.
