Hydroponics AB3

A dark and yet delicately lit space, the forward hydroponics bay of the Ambition allows the use of deadspace between the reinforced bow bulkheads for the farming of dark-loving plants native to Janikk.

Purpose / Function

This section of hydroponics focuses on the plants which thrive naturally in the caves and deep forests of Janikk. Its unusual shape allows for taller plants, including a few trees, while the smaller footprint requires a careful use of vertical space.

Design

Hydroponics 3 is located in the bow of the Ambition, in the largest section of open space within the large, extra reinforced bulkheads at the front of the ship. Large exposed beams crisscross the bay, specially located to facilitate the transfer and dissipation of energy from a high speed impact at the front of the ship, permitting the Ambition to perform a ramming maneuver with manageable damage to the spacecraft.

Entries

Sealed off from the rest of the ship by the reinforced bulkheads, Hydroponics 3 is only accessible via the portal transit system node located within.

Sensory & Appearance

As it is dedicated to dark-loving plants, Hydroponics 3 is lit mostly by the plants themselves. Patches of scattered bioluminescence in various colors and intensities dot the space, while plants tend to grow better close groupings due to interdependencies developed to share adaptations to the light deficiency.

Alterations

Flooring was added to the empty space between reinforced bulkheads to allow hydroponics workers and the occasional visitor to comfortably navigate the area. Hydroponics fixtures have been affixed to the support beams, with care not to weaken their strength. Ladders can also be found around the periphery to reach higher plants without the use of Telekinesis.
