Dragon Skeleton

This gargantuan skeleton was discovered deep within the northern swamps, inside a cave system that is partially caved in. Its form resembles that of a wingless dragon, leading to its moniker. The creature seems to lack intelligence, only hunting down what creatures it manages to detect. At the same time it patrols in a rather regular pattern.   At this point there is no indication the creature can leave the cavern, nor any sign that there are multiple, yet at the same time we should not risk it. The nearby camp has been equipped with several countermeasures and weapons that hopefully can resist it if need be. At the same time, we expect that an actual attack would lead to many deaths. Hunting it would come at even greater risks.

Subjugation
Given its massive mouth and claws, we advice tower shields to help block the skeleton's grasp. It extremely likely is resistant against most elemental damage on account of being a skeleton, as well as piercing and slashing damage. Unfortunately this means it is not an option to unleash an arrow storm on it.   Acid flasks and bludgeoning attacks are the only reasonable way for soldiers to wound the creature. Tripwires and other obstacles are needed to let soldiers attack while keeping out of reach as long as possible. Even then, any fight is still likely to become a massacre.
Nature
The creature acts as a typical undead, patrolling its area mindlessly. It does not act like a predator but more like a force of nature, frequently roaring as it travels its domain. Creatures encountered are hunted and butchered. Corpses were found that were completely torn apart.   Its domain appears to focus on a specific part of the cave system, it rarely if ever enters other parts even though it can easily do so. If it fails to hunt down prey, it will quickly return to this patrolled area. This suggests it may somehow have been commanded to guard this area, though it could simply be some instinctual attachment instead.

Three platoons. I concur, don't mess around. Though if its a skeleton I'd perhaps prefer a catapult type siege weapon over a Ballistae. Solely because Piercing weapons aren't the best for dealing with skeletons. Too many gaps where you won't hit anything ya see. Bludgeoning weapons on the other hand, well.

Bit harder to hit with a catapult, and the ballistae definitely need some form of wires to maybe restrain the thing. I probably should look into twin-ballista design. And yeah, it's not the best, but at least it does more damage than the thing resists, which is more than one can say about normal arrows.

Very true. Perhaps a refitted Ballistae that can fling a shaped hunk of stone, like a mechanized slingshot, scaled up to lethal levels. But either way, I approve of the suggested amount of force to bring to bear against such a thing. Dragon skeleton? Yup we bringing a small army for this problem.
