Adamantine Key - OLD

This article includes heavy spoilers for the campaign plot.
As such, its contents should not be read by any (prospective) players.

The Adamantine Key
An ancient adamantine cylinder with many internal and external engravings, it is unknown what this device used to be for. However, some records of the Rise of the Valley prophecies touched on the device, and claimed it was a key to truth, or a key to riches. This has resulted in it receiving the name The Adamantine Key.   Where the device is now, is unclear. The prophecies spoke of it being in the middle of the valley, suggesting that it was located at its main city and kept there by those that stayed behind. Explorers may want to find it and see if they can unlock its secrets.
Spoiler warning: Factual details
In reality, the Adamantine Key is indeed a key. Deep in the mountain caves lies a large stone gate, that only the most expert eye can recognise as anything other than a natural wall. An indentation in the gate is what the key is for, and using it there will open the gate. The route behind it leads towards the Red-Mountain Dwarves, which used to be a trade partner of the Valley. The Valley's ships also played a role in their trading, allowing them to reach further than they could by just using their own tunnels.   This also means that the Red-Mountain Dwarves know more about the Valley, and if reached they might be willing to share information about the Fall of the Valley, which can help understand the disasters and maybe even prevent them from reoccuring.
