I just have to continue working for another year and then I’ll have my title…and then I have to continue working for another 10 years….huh... — An old disgruntled Mediator
Peacekeeper is a title given to a
Mediator that has exceeded in the line of duty. This is a desirable title because of the prestige of having spent 3/4 of their work life protecting the peace of the supernatural community. Many mediators strive to receive it.
History
This title was instated around 1958 when the current president wanted to raise the status of the mediator profession in the supernatural community. The status was already pretty high but not many people wanted to try out for the job. The title didn’t change the view of the mediators outside of the profession. Instead people started to apply for the job when a novella by a werewolf author came out later the same year. One of the cool characters in the novella was a mediator just like the author's husband.
QUALIFICATIONS
To receive this title a person must've either worked as a mediator for 30 years or stopped a large scale conflict with more than 2 participating groups.
BENEFITS
There is a raise in salary for the person who receives this title. They also get 40 days of paid vacation, a fancy peacekeeper pin, and an 18k gold chain.
Title holders
The first mediator,
Laila Rosenlund, was the first person who received this title, a couple of years after she passed away. It has also been given to 74 people for a 30-year-old service and 9 people for stopping a large scale conflict.
REMOVAL
So far nobody has had their title taken away from them. However, that doesn't mean somebody won't be able to lose their title in the future. It will be removed from a mediator if there is evidence that they have done anything egregious in their line of duty.
