The People's Defense Forces

The People's Defense Forces is the armed military of the Nation of Kandar.
The People's Defense Forces' military prowess is augmented by the elite Eagle Knights, a force divided into specialized branches: the Golden Legion, the Steel Falcons, the Twilight Talons, and the Grey Corsairs. Each branch focuses on specific aspects of national defense and foreign policy, though their exact roles are often veiled in secrecy outside of The Shining Lands.

Couatl Knights

The Couatl Knights are an elite force which embody the ideals of Kandar, serving as dedicated warriors who pledge to protect not only their nation but also its principles of freedom, equality, and justice. Distinguished by their blue-and-orange uniforms and Couatl emblems. While some of their exploits may be embellished in patriotic narratives, the Couatl Knights are undeniably a force of nobility, honor, and unwavering commitment to their people.

Vineyard Legion

The Vineyard Legion forms the primary military backbone, securing the natiion’s borders and bolstering the defenses of major cities and towns. They serve as the most public and ceremonial face of the elite force, acting as protectors, enforcers of law, and trainers for the realm’s standing army.

Ember Avorals

The Ember Avorals act as Kandar's international ambassadors, promoting the principles of shared governance and actively opposing oppressive regimes through diplomacy and direct action. They undertake global missions to liberate enslaved individuals, disrupt slaving operations, and advocate for the abolition of slavery worldwide.

Shadow Talons

The Shadow Talons operate in the shadows, conducting covert missions within slave operations, rivaling courts, and within clandestine organizations that threaten Kandar's ideals. Their existence and activities are officially denied by the Kandar government.
