Muspelheim
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Muspelheim is the second layer of Ysgard. A jagged land of fire and volcanic rock, it is named after the divine realm of Surtr that existed within its lands.
Inhabitants
Since it is such a desolate place, Muspelheim is generally avoided. Only its native fire giants remain to care for the land and are its undisputed rulers.Notable Locations
Muspelheim, which is a realm by the same name of the layer, and is ruled by Surtur. It contains some of the few arable lands of the entire layer, which are used to grow fireweed, verdobba, and a type of edible black wood.Geography
Muspelheim is formed by similar earthbergs to those that constituted the first layer, Ysgard, but they are inverted with respect to those. In Muspelheim, the fire-lit side faced up, so most of the terrain in the entire layer is dominated by fire and is quite inhospitable to visitors. In many ways, it is very similar to some regions of the Elemental Plane of Fire, which is connected to the layer via numerous portals.
