Cassina was born in Macra to a minor Bafigronian noble house, offspring to an arranged marriage between her mother, Angela van Kopendraak of House Nihilus, and her father, Granus Madero. Demonstrating remarkable intelligence since her early years, she was destined to be a cleric of Ioun and sent to study in Sophia Hold. She was given the role of Chief Librarian in 1022 at the age of 30, and was well respected by her peers.
In 1031, her distant relative, Abscherr Messerklinge, reached out for her in order to arrange her marriage with the Dark Lord of Gontal. Though she was hestitant at first, a colleague convinced her to agree, citing the possible knowledge she could gather in such status.
The message she sent back was intercepted by the Dark Lord's prime consort, a corrupted silver dragoness, who was outraged by the possibility of this marriage. Several weeks before her departure, Ezorumneh assaulted the Solariad Spire and quickly overcame its defenses. She devoured Cassina whole and flew back to Gremsurden, where she spat Cassina's uterus in front of Abscherr.
