Sir Abscherr Messerklinge, Enemy of Arasil
"You remind me of my father... And my brother, too..."Abscherr Messerklinge is the commander of the Schattenarmee and the last king of the former Kingdom of Gremsurden. Growing in a noble house and being knighted, Abscherr is a master tactician, an adroit strategist, and a powerful blackguard; he is often described as a perfectionst and a narcissist. He's considered to be one of the Dark Lord of Gontal's most trusted servants.

General Physical Condition
Abscherr is obssessed with his physical appearance and health, maintaining a strict training regime and a carefully planned diet. He employs several healers to tend to him if the need arises, and is always accompanied by a cleric of Ella'li to prevent any possibility of poisoning, intentional or otherwise.
He seems to age at a significantly reduced rate, looking in his early 30's despite being over 60. It is rumored that he signed a pact with a devil, phrased as "the only wrinkles you'll have will be scars"; though age leaves his face pristine, every injury that breaks his skin leaves a scar.

Personal history
Born to the royal House of Nihilus in the former kingdom of Gremsurden, he was the second son to his father Jiarleck; his mother died at childbirth. As a child he was a brilliant student, often described as a "knowledge sponge" by his tutors, and was destined to knighthood; he became a squire in 1003. As a squire, he was completely dedicated to his training and fulfilled his duties to their fullest extent; due to his exceptional martial prowess, he often sparred with knights rather than other squires. He was knighted in 1008, and the very same day he challenged Ludecke, his older brother and heir to the throne, to a duel; though the slight for which the challenge was issued is unclear, the duel ended with Ludecke's death.
In 1010, he forced himself on a female noblewoman from the Kingdom of Arasil that visited Gremsurden, prompting his father to chastise him and to revoke his knighthood; before the decree could be issued, however, Abscherr murdered his father and succeeded him as king. This patricide was immediatlely followed by a purge of the former king's closest loyalists. In response, Abscherr was branded as an enemy of Arasil and as a traitor to the Arasilisch people, and by extent, all ties between the two kingdoms were promptly severed. Either in late 1011 or early 1012, Abscherr travelled to Gacragoss where he gave his crown to the Dark Lord of Gontal; when the Gontal Streitkräfte began its invasion of the kingdom after conquering Noorkivheid, Abscherr coordinated with them in order to remove possible domestic resistance, most notably suggesting routes of attack for the Brecherriesen. In 1013, Abscherr decreed the disbandment of the House of Nihilus and began forming the Schattenarmee.

He disdains the prelevant culture of fights to the death in between warriors, and prohibits it in the Shadow Leagion. Participants in such fights are resurrected as thralls.
