Black Ammand

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Here you shall rule, you wretched. Here you shall remain, you cursed. By The Four, by my blade, by my crown, I cast you into the shadows.
— Written on the gates of Black Ammand.
Black Ammand is a cursed city in the Shadowfell which somewhat parallels Ammand. Black Ammand formed around a monolith, which serves as the prison of the Marquesses in the Shadows.

Districts

Black Ammand has five districts - the four courts and the monolith.

The Courts

The Unspoken Court
This district is under permanent silence, and is the most visited as it is the city’s center of commerce.
The Unlit Court
Mainly inhabited by Shadows and associated with The Eternal, this court is the closest the city has to a civilian district.
The Untruthful Court
It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard; you’ve been lied to. It’s much worse.
The Forlorn Court
Few are allowed entry here; the court is closed off with a cold-iron wall. A nightstalker stands guard at the only breach in the wall.

The Monolith

The Monolith is a floating tetrahedron which constantly rotates, flips, and turns in a seemingly random fashion. It is accepted to be the jail of the marqueeses, and seems to have no entry or exit. While most denizens of Black Ammand hold it in some reverence, they also steer clear of its immediate vicinity, as it causes an overpowering sense of unease and apathy. The ground beneath it and in a 500 meter radius from it is littered with skeletons, the remains of those who got too close and succumbed to its apathic aura, either starving to death or dying of dehydration.
