Regianld Goodvich is a college student in the senior year of his history program. While a member of the esteemed Goodvich family renowed for their above-average number of mages, Reginald himself does not posses the ability to use magic. Instead he focuses on his research, still unsure how he will define himself in the shadow of his family name.
However, a lost book finding its way into his hands just begging to be translated sends Reginald on an adventure he was wholly unprepared for.
Elijah Goodvich is Reginald's cousin, a Mage with a particular talent for manipulating fire, and all-around class clown. While not as overshadowed by the family legacy as Reginald, Elijah finds himself put-upon to choose a path for himself in life.
Still, he is determined to support and look out for his magically dis-inclined cousin, although most of the time it is Reginald looking out for him.
Anessa Valentine is a close childhood friend of Reginald and Elijah Goodvich, having known them both from a young age. Anessa deals with the expectations of her family in her own way; namely, sneaking off at night to one of the many speakeasies in Poartind to flirt with rascally men.
Under the flapper dresses and classy cigarettes, though, is a young woman afraid of becoming a carbon-copy of her mother. What words from the past will help her grow into the woman the Creator intends her to be?
Brother Francis is an unassuming Monk who lives and works at St. Bartholomew's cathedral in Poartlind. I'm also tired and burning out, and should proabably eat something, and slowly realizing that Francis probably should be a priest or Deacon, not a monk. Just in terms of Church heirarchy and how much freedom he has as a member of the Shadowed Apostles.
Man, Dark Monks is such a legacy title now, but I don't have anything to replace it with.
Archibald Wolfe has been Dean of the College of history for as long as anyone can remember. His grudge against the Church though, has only surfaced in more recent memory. Students attribute this sudden change to the death of his wife a few years ago, though professors more acquainted with the Dean can attest that his misgivings about Church teachings have persisted for far longer.
Still, his knowledge of history and his skill on the debate floor are not to be ignored.
One of the original twelve Shadowed Apostles who spread the Good News of the Savior after the Ascension. Also one of the youngest, preferring to let his seniors take charge and lead. Still, his fearless courage and ability to see those most in need of help are skills that have proven invaluable to the Shadowed Apostles.
He is also a Kingson, with the gift of creating audio-based 'illusions'. It's a gift that's helped him get out of more than one tight spot with local guards.
