Ageia

The Lost city of the Great Kingdom

In All the Mortal Lands, there has never been so great or illustrious a tale as the Ageis Kingdom. The Great Kingdom of the Eastern Sea, Ageis stood as a pillar of Light in an otherwise dark and lawless world. Its shining star was Ageia, the capital.    Yet all good things must come to an end, and Ageis died in fire and smoke, as the legends so often proclaim. Yet it left behind a mystery; what became of that Shining star, which vanished so swiftly on the Day of Darkened Sun that not even whispers were left in its wake?

Demographics

The Ancient City of Ageia was a primarily human population. While there was the occasional Golsmith or Tree-folk, the city of Ageia had been built by humans, for humans.   Within the city, there was a wide and varied caste system. At the top was King Ignatius IV, and at the bottom  an entire plain full of farmers and shepherds. In between was a wide wash of craftsmen, merchants, nobles and advisors.

Government

Ageia was ruled by its king. The Last king of the Ageis Kingdom was King Ignatius IV, who himself had sixteen children. There was much speculation about who would take the throne after the king's passing, but after the fall of the kingdom it proved to be a moot point.   The King had a small council of advisors to assist him, led by the Vizar. They were masters of various realms of rule, such as agricultural concerns or military preparations. While these advisors tended to rise and fall with their respective kings, it was not unheard of for one to either retire peacfully or be forcibly removed if his advice turned out to be... less than useful.

History

Ageia has forever been held as one of the greatest capitals in the history of the Mortal Lands. Founded in the third century of the Jade era, the Ageis kingdom quickly rose to power and dominated the region, and Ageia was its shining gem. Neither war nor flood could bring the capital to its knees.  Hundreds of years of prosperity passed, and although the Ageis kingdom itself wavered several times, the capital never did.   Then came the Day of Darkened Sun.
Ah, the fair city. How cruel was its destruction! On the greatest day of the year, how swift and merciless was her end! The Sun turned Black, the earth rumbled, and fire fell from heaven. Her Children's cries of delight turned to screams of agony. I could only watch from afar as our crown jewel, our shining city, vanished in smoke and fire. When I went to look for survivors, not even a single stone from the city gate could be found.
The above excerpt is one of the few written descriptions of the fall of Ageia, whose disappearance heralded the end of the Jade era. It is believed that as most of the population of the Ageis kingdom had made pilgrimage to the capital for the celebration of the Day of Endless Sun, most of the Ageis kingdom itself died that day. While there are notable exceptions such as the Army of the First Son, who had followed their general into exile, Ageis died with its people.   To this day not a single pebble of the lost capital remains. Its location was never fully recorded, and even the best of Archeologists and Historians can only make educated guesses as to the resting place of the Lost City. Finding its grave has been the pipe dream of adventurers for centuries.
