The Purifier Mark IX Power Armor in The Magitech Chronicles | World Anvil

The Purifier Mark IX Power Armor

NOTE: This armor requires a cybernetic harness to function.   The Purifier Mark IX is a prototype, and unavailable for mass production. Getting a set requires friends very high up in the Ternus government, status as a test pilot, or some very impressive larceny skills and a willingness to live with one of the largest governments in the sector hunting you.   The armor was developed on the non-Confederate world of Aetego, a world who detests mages. The planet is rich with Catalysts, which are run by competing holy orders. One of those orders serves a goddess of flame. Of Jealousy.   The blood of this goddess watered a tiny region of iron-rich mountains when she was murdered. Armor forged from this angersteel resists all magic, and served as the base for the new armor. Had that been the end of it the armor would have been of no special note, because while effective it is simply too expensive and offered no special advantages.   Then the Order of Thymes, the aforementioned goddess of Jealousy, approached the Ternus research division. Their goddess would bless this endeavor, but the pilot must take a covenant with their goddess. In exchange she would grant the user a miracle that would render the armor impervious to magic for a limited time.   Among other abilities the purifier possesses its own thruster, and can be piloted with the pilot skill, just like a fighter. The armor is designed to be socketed into a fighter during combat, so that the pilot can board enemy ships, do bad things (tm), and then get back to the post-orbital battle.

The Rage of Thymes

Thymes is a jealous goddess, and the first nine pilots went insane. Each round a pilot is sealed in the armor they lose one pool. Once out of pool they lose one willpower each round until it reaches zero. Once that happens they go berserk and begin killing everyone around them, until stopped.   This can be prevented by taking the covenant Embrace the Anger, and the miracle Bond of Anger. See below.

Appearance

The Purifier Power Armor armor is more bulky than equivalent power armor due to the back mounted fusion reactor. Its armor is comprised from a reddish alloy, more angry than rust. It has a small set of retractable wings with maneuvering thrusters.

Purifier Mk IX Heavy Power Armor

Armor: 9   Resistance: 6 / 16   Limit: 5   Effects: Atmospherically contained for up to eight hours, immunity to gas attacks, 5 potion loaders. Once per day the pilot may call upon the rage of Thymes and amplify the armor's resistance to a full 16 points until cancelled. This resistance effects the caster, and prevents the use of magical potions or spells while in use.   NOTE: If the fusion reactor is directly targeted, and sustains 10 or more damage, then the housing is damaged and the reactor will begin to leak. This inflicts 2 lingering fire each round until repair. If the reactor sustains 30 damage it detonates, and all objects with 20 take 150 damage.   Speed: 20 / 40   Cost: 2,000,000 Credits

Covenants & Miracles

If they knowingly forgive someone who has wronged them, then this covenant is broken.     Bond of Anger     Effect: The pilot slices their hand, mutters a prayer to right all wrongs against them, and then smears the blood on the Purifier. This miracle allows them to survive inside the armor. Without it the Rage of Tymes will consume the pilot.   Duration: Scene   Covenant: Embrace of Anger   Uses: Once per day
