Orandia is a formerly Vorogan village within the northern territory of Reuni. In recent years, it has fallen under the administration of Lord Caisimir Armannis of Meidal.

Demographics

A large amount of the Orandian population are orcs, followed by mixed lineage individuals with orc heritage, and a fair few dragonblooded. A small, yet noticeable, portion of the population is human. Due to recent administrative expansion by order of the Lord Armannis, the citizens are required to report for a bi-yearly census, and must report all births and deaths to the local Office of Population Registration establishment, located within the city's town hall.

Government

Orandia is run under an iron fist by Lord Caisimir Armannis, a nobleman from the southern city of Meidal. Lord Armannis is largely absent, spending most of his time in his Estate in Meidal. Since his establishment as lord of Orandia, Lord Armannis has established local stations of many of the Reunic offices, including the Office of Internal Travel and Transportation, the Office of Internal Regulation, and the Office of Population Registration.

Guilds and Factions

There is a fairly prominent theives' guild in Orandia, known as the Tyrant's Fist. The members of this group are the only citizens of Orandia left alone by law enforcement; there are many disagreements regarding whether this is because the local guard force fears them, or if the guards are simply in the pocket of the organisation. The thieves themselves have no honour, and continually steal from, assault, disrespect, and exert control over the rest of the villagers. They have effectively made it incredibly dangerous to spend any time out at night in Orandia, as the rates of violent crime have skyrocketed. The handful of disappearances in the town have been largely attributed to them.

History

Orandia was founded in the year 187 A.G.W., originally within the territory of the former nation of Vorogo. During the Reunic War of Conquest, Orandia became part of a secondary supply line for Vorogo. Though they were not directly targeted by Reunic forces during the beginning of the war, they played a large role in Vorogo's success in the initial years. However, shortly after the Vorogan leader was assassinated and Reuni pressed northward into Vorogo, Orandia was one of the first settlements to fall to Reunic occupation. Nearing the end of the war, Reunic soldiers were prepared to torch the town and move on. However, the Martyr of Orandia stood up in the town's defence, inspiring the rest of its citizens to fight for their home. Becuase of this, the city was saved, though Vorogo did end up losing the war anyways. The government of Reuni established their rule before leaving Orandia mostly alone, albeit struggling, until recent years. A new lord was granted power over the town, Lord Caisimir Armannis. He cracked down on the struggling population, and made life much more unbearable. Now, with half its citizens in poverty and the rest working to serve the government they once resisted against, Orandia is no longer the Gem of the North that it once was.

Districts & Architecture

The older buildings in Orandia are consistent with Vorogan architecture, including most notably its town hall. However, newer buildings, especially those built after Lord Armannis was granted control of the town, resemble Reunic architectural patterns much more. The wealthiest portion of Reuni is the area immediately surrounding its town hall, and is home to the local government workers and guard force. The rest of the town consists of run-down houses, cracked streets, and failing establishments.

Ugh, the Tyrant's Fist sound awful. It's a shame Orandia is no longer as nice as it once was. :(
