Oergazcion
Originally intended to be the seat of the Fey council, this set of rocks, stones, and stela mark the place where Fey Lords and their representatives once ruled and performed their orations for the motions of governance that commanded the faithful of Skodia. Hidden from the sight of world, the eventual fall of Skodia to Cathrica and Invictus during the Crusade, the Oergazcion fell into legend and disuse. The flora of the region sunk the spot into the swamps of Skodia and vines entangled the old Stela of the Fey Houses that marked their place in this world. The seats of the audience taken over by murky water and moss, lily pads and lichen, the speakers perch still holds a small crooked perch on the northernmost point of the amphitheater. Here the elven runes and the fey wards have kept the rock pristine and it commands the view of the swamp around it.
It is said that any who stand here will have revealed to them the secrets of the past and the present and the future. In so knowing the unknowable, madness will descend on whatever creature dares to appoint themselves the Speaker. Only a true fey lord can broach the stance and retain any semblance of sanity.
In stories to young Bailymenan children, mothers tell the secret of the Washer Woman and her promise of the burning white feather down at the firth. The Washer Woman was said to be the last Speaker to hold the stance on the stone. Her oratory whispered like autumn winds and falling leaves and spellbound the audience with the last glows of warm sunlight before the winter fell. Her hold on Bailymena persists, for when the Cathricans came and took what was hers, the winter was in full loom and the gloom of the storm hid the seat of the Washer Woman's power. Though no one may find the Oergazcion, many have tried to search for it to gain the boon of the Washer Woman. She is able to cure all that ails a being in this world.
Finding the Oergazcion in the murk of history, the shift of the swamps, and the fault of the dreaming and the wakening, is no small feat and those who might try are warned against such foolishness. Eventually, though, the Oergazcion will re-enter this world with the coming of the Spring. And there, a fey-lord might rise to challenge the might of the Empire around it.
Purpose / Function
Fey seat of power on the isle of Skodia.
Alterations
The Oergazcion has fallen into disuse, misrepair, and reclamation by the elements around it. The southern seating area has sunken into the swamp around it. Only the Speaker's Stone remains pristine.
Architecture
Fey-based natural stone with stela inscribed with elven runes and fey wards. The white stone is native to this part of the island. The forest vegetation has been taken over by the expanding swamps and the natural parts of the amphitheater have become moss and lichen-encrusted, covered with vines, lily pads, and irises.
History
Pre-Crusade, this was the seat of the power of the Fey in both the Dreaming and the Waking world. It has been on Skodia, for time immemorial.
Post-Crusade, this seat has disappeared forever (or has it?).
Tourism
None. Many seek out the Oergazcion to reclaim lost power or favor with the Fey Lords. Others seek it in search of power untold. To see the place is to walk haunted for the rest of your life because of its beauty, and yet many who glimpse it then quest for it the rest of their days.
