Rag Men Item in Tairos | World Anvil

Rag Men

It's funny how certain things... how you can cobble together just the right combination of pieces, give it life and yet it isn't quiet a blank slate. There's some urge the rides along with that first spark of awareness, twisting the effort... corrupting it. For these Rag Men, that craving is to watch the life drain out of a face that's wracked with fear.

Rag Men seem to be a unique scarecrow-like construct employed by the villainous entity known as Scourge . The techniques used to build these creatures seem to have come to Scourge as a result of him consuming Lutin Laplin's spell book and lifeblood.

These relentless hunters are employed by Scourge to track down and slaughter those that stand between him and his quest to slay his creators.

In combat they've been observed to shrug off injury and pain thanks to their unnatural construction. They are little more than bones, rags and blades given life and cruel intellect and as such complete destruction is the only way to be free of their pursuit.

In addition to their fatal blades the Rag Men are exceptionally quick, stealthy and possessing of minor fear effects similar to those of their creator. While these qualities go some ways toward contributing to their deadly effectiveness the most chilling weapon in their arsenal is their sight. The Tengu skulls used in their making are deeply enchanted to allow them to pierce most magical disguises. Also, their ghostly empty eye sockets are far from blind. In fact, they possess keener sight and awareness than most creatures. This makes them both excellent ambushers and virtually immune to ambush themselves. Lastly, these skulls seem attuned to their creator, allowing Scourge to see what they see, hear what they hear and know their location without error.
